Raymond van Barneveld defeated his old foe Phil Taylor 11-8 in their online darts rematch on Thursday to complete a soft-tip/steel-tip double.

Barney overcame his old foe 7-6 on the electronic Target Nexus board back in April when the duo met in a charity match that raised a whopping £15,000 for the NHS.

The Power subsequently helped boost the coffers of the Heroes charity by a further of £23,000 during his victories over Mikuru Suzuki and Fallon Sherrock in the same format last month, but this clash was all about revenge.

Taylor, who won 61 of their 83 tussles on the professional circuit during their glittering careers, looked in danger of suffering a heavy loss when trailing 8-3 and 9-5 but won four legs on the trot to give himself a fighting chance of sealing a dramatic comeback.

The Dutchman was not to be denied against the man he so memorably beat to claim his fifth world title in 2007 as he moved 10-8 up before landing a match-winning 120 checkout.

Barney averaged 94 compared to the 16-time world champion's 90 and hit five more 180s with six although he did miss 22 attempts at doubles compared as a more clinical Taylor pinned eight of his 13 attempts.
