Verdict

SMART CHAMPION came within a flared nostril of making a winning reappearance at Southwell just under 6 weeks ago, showing good battling qualities given the favourite was cantering all over him in the straight. That proved exaggerated waiting tactics don't necessarily need to be employed so David Simcock's charge gets the verdict to go a place better here. Make My Day, Mellow Magic and Dance To Paris look the main dangers in that order.

  1. SMART CHAMPION
  2. MAKE MY DAY (IRE)
  3. MELLOW MAGIC
