Verdict

The Ado McGuinness-trained ROYAL ADMIRAL got back to winning ways last month on the sand at Laytown over 7f. The five-year-old can take his good form into this contest at a track where he has never finished out of the frame in four starts and finished second of 12 over C&D in May. Jumellea is a clear and obvious danger for the Joseph O'Brien yard while Convara in first-time cheekpieces and Buzz Killington, a winner here last week can battle for the minor honours. Given the yards record with handicappers here in October in the last four years, Gougane Barra for trainer Mick Halford should not be forgotten.
  1. Royal Admiral
  2. Jumellea
  3. Gougane Barra
