From a fairly useful family that connections have had success with. Smooth-travelling second in a winter bumper at Exeter. Bumped into one when runner-up at Hexham (2½m) on hurdling debut in May, possibly unsuited by the idiosyncratic track. Likely improver who has solid claims to go one better.

Point bumper form has some substance. No-show at long odds in a couple of bumpers under Rules in recent weeks. Up in trip (bred to suit) for hurdling bow and likely to need more time.

Hails from a quality French jumping family. Split a couple of next-time-out winners on all-weather bumper debut. Ran to a similar level/again made the running when a length second at Wincanton in March. Interesting now sent hurdling over a longer trip by top yard (following a breathing operation).

Failed to complete both starts in points. Wasn't beaten far in a weak bumper here prior to finishing well beaten in a course novice (2m) on hurdling debut. Up in trip and again likely to find this competitive.

Successful just once from 15 starts in Irish points. Well beaten in a couple of Worcester chases for present yard last month. Makes little appeal sent hurdling.

Related to a host of above-average jumpers. Landed a Wincanton bumper on debut. Better form in defeat in good-quality bumpers at Cheltenham/Newbury (latter working out well) subsequently. Up in trip and an intriguing hurdling debutant for in-form yard (34% strike rate since start of July).

€20,000 3-y-o, £6,000 4-y-o, Beaumec De Houelle filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including French chaser Kamyador and fairly useful hurdler/chaser Peejaybee. Unplaced completed start in Irish points in April. Cheap purchase considering her pedigree and market likely to guide on debut for good yard.

Forecasts

Le Cold Grey (11/10), Bold Step (11/8), Bailly's Comet (9/2), Silverhill Freya (33/1), Chase The Status (33/1), Vicomte Le Brave (100/1), Merci Vieil Ami (150/1)

Verdict

Nicky Henderson's BOLD STEP has the benefit of a run over hurdles (chased home a progressive one), which may just give him the edge over interesting hurdling debutants Bailly's Comet and Le Cold Grey.
