EBF Stallions Golden Horn Maiden Stakes (C & G)

Off time: 13:50 | Winning time: 1m 52.22s

(3)

Bantry Bay

Age: 2| Weight: 9-2| J: Cieren Fallon| T: W J Haggas

18/1

New Bay colt. Closely related to 2-y-o 7f winner Anquod. Dam, 1m-1¼m winner, half-sister to useful 7f-1½m winner Cay Dancer. Noble Mariner might be the Haggas first string on jockey bookings but the betting is perhaps the best guide.

(1)

Fort Mchenry¹⁶

Age: 2| Weight: 9-2| J: Kaiya Fraser| T: C Fellowes

66/1

4/1, only sixth of 7 in novice at Yarmouth (7f, good) on debut 16 days ago. The fact he was strong in the betting suggests better was anticipated but he needs to have come on a lot.

Form: 6

(5)

Fulcrum¹⁴

Age: 2| Weight: 9-2| J: R Havlin| T: J & T Gosden

4/7

Promising sort. Fourth of 11 in C&D novice (good to soft, 10/3) on debut 14 days ago, finishing with running left. This son of Night of Thunder looks sure to come on plenty for that initial experience but reopposing Space Bob was ½ length ahead of him on that occasion.

Form: 4

(7)

Leo Phelps

Age: 2| Weight: 9-2| J: Callum Rodriguez| T: Owen Burrows

5/1

Foaled February 21. 320,000 gns Zarak half-brother to several winners, including 1½m-16.5f winner Belgravian and winner up to 1¼m Fun With Flags, both useful. Dam maiden (stayed 1½m). Interesting newcomer.

Form:

(4)

Silent Force³¹

Age: 2| Weight: 9-2| J: Rob Hornby| T: A M Balding| OR: 83| BF

3/1

Fairly useful form when placed over 7f at Newbury (good to firm) and Ffos Las (heavy) in recent months. Open to further progress.

Form: 32

Forecasts

Fulcrum (4/7), Silent Force (3/1), Space Bob (7/2), Leo Phelps (5/1), Noble Mariner (5/1), Bantry Bay (18/1), Fort Mchenry (66/1)

FULCRUM shaped with significant promise in a C&D novice a fortnight ago and expected to build on that, he'll take some stopping. Silent Force has shown more than enough to think he can win races, while the 3 newcomers all have something to recommend them on paper.
