Kildress Plumbing Suppliers Rated Novice Hurdle

Off time: 15:57 | Winning time: 5m 29.80s

Brother Walfrid^t²⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 12-0| J: Jack Kennedy| T: G Elliott| OR: 120

11/2

Won maiden hurdle at Punchestown in June. Followed that with a disappointing effort at Galway but took his form up a notch when 6½ lengths second of 5 to Diamond Du Berlais in 23f novice at Killarney last time. Drop back in trip should be fine and sets the standard.

Form: 22-4152

Luker's Tipple²⁸

Age: 5| Weight: 12-0| J: Keith Donoghue| T: G P Cromwell| OR: 120| C

7/2

Quirky sort who belatedly got off the mark over hurdles in a course maiden in July and then quickly followed that up with a novice win at Sligo the following month. Completed a quick-fire hat-trick on chasing debut at Tramore last time. More required now back over hurdles, though.

Form: 2-34111

Mr Master Mac³⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 12-0| J: Thomas O'Connor⁽⁷⁾| T: M Fahey| OR: 120| C

10/3

Won course maiden hurdle in May and has shaped quite well when runner-up in handicap at Galway and novice at Tramore on last 2 starts. Should give another good account.

Form: 13-1722

Holy Joe^h1³⁶

Age: 6| Weight: 11-8| J: Sam Ewing| T: G Elliott| OR: 114

25/1

Much improved to get off the mark at the third attempt in 15-runner maiden hurdle at Clonmel in June. Made the most of what became a good opportunity when following up in novice at Perth next time but had winning run ended in better-quality race last month. Needs to step up in first-time hood.

Form: 6-U115

Look Sport⁵⁰

Age: 5| Weight: 11-8| J: Conor Stone-Walsh| T: P Nolan| OR: 114

28/1

Strong at finish when making a winning debut in 16-runner novice hurdle at Kilbeggan (2¼m, good) in May. Showed better form but firmly put in his place when 16 lengths fourth of 6 to Midnight Jet in novice hurdle at Galway last time. Improvement needed.

Form: 14

Gangster Granny^p¹⁴

Age: 5| Weight: 11-7| J: Sean Flanagan| T: C A McBratney| OR: 113| CD

9/1

Thriving mare who notched her third course win from 5 starts when completing a double in a mares handicap here (2¾m) last month. Ran no sort of race back on the Flat last time and this demands more from her, but it would be folly to write her off given her effectiveness at the track.

Form: 0-15211

Kashchei^p¹⁸

Age: 6| Weight: 11-6| J: Carl Millar⁽⁵⁾| T: C Collins| OR: 112| D

7/1

Left with a simple task as he opened his account in 21f Kelso novice hurdle in May. Got back on the up when 1½ lengths second of 10 to Bruant in C&D handicap 18 days ago. Place claims if able to build on that performance reverting to novice company.

Form: 753-1P2

Lady Lena³³

Age: 6| Weight: 11-4| J: Brian Hayes| T: W P Mullins| D

9/1

Placed on both outings in bumpers before making a successful hurdling debut when landing a maiden at Tramore in August, beating Market Ready by 2¼ lengths. The form has been franked by the third since and she's clearly open to improvement now tackling a novice.

Form: 32-1

Harpy Eagle³⁰

Age: 5| Weight: 11-1| J: Josh Williamson⁽³⁾| T: R P Cody| OR: 107| BF

9/2

Won 6-runner handicap hurdle at Wexford (2½m, good) in August and then backed that performance up from a 5 lb higher mark when chasing home Midnight Eagle in a similar event at Sligo 11 days later. Faces several less-exposed rivals now back in novice company, though.

Form: 40-6612

Forecasts

Mr Master Mac (10/3), Luker's Tipple (7/2), Harpy Eagle (9/2), Brother Walfrid (11/2), Kashchei (7/1), Gangster Granny (9/1), Lady Lena (9/1), Holy Joe (25/1), Look Sport (28/1)

LADY LENA made a winning start over hurdles in a Tramore novice and, with improvement expected, is taken to maintain her unbeaten record in this sphere. Gangster Granny ran poorly on the Flat last time but is a different mare at this track and rates the chief threat, while Brother Walfrid and Mr Master Mac are also respected.
