Has proved consistent rather than progressive on all-weather. Failed to capitalise on a good opportunity when ½-length second in Lingfield maiden (1¼m) on return last time. Now back on turf for the first time since debut and did look to find 1m on the sharp side on sole previous try at this trip.

Aclaim gelding. Dam 6f-9f winner. Gelded ahead of his belated debut and hard to be confident he'll make an impact.

Well-bred daughter of Too Darn Hot. Didn't offer much on debut prior to being pulled up (lost action) at Newbury last July. A 14-month absence would typically be a concern but she's in excellent hands. Needs a close look for yard with 61% strike rate in novice/maiden races here in past 5 seasons.

Given a considerate introduction in a valuable newcomers race at Sandown last summer. Fair third behind above-average types both starts this year, latterly beaten 2½ lengths in a steadily-run novice at Kempton (1m). In the right hands to progress and looks the most solid option here.

Verdict

RIVER NILE sets a fair standard and may well open her account at the fourth attempt. The fly in the ointment could be Fan Me, who returns for a yard with an excellent record in maiden/novice events at this track.
