Marilyn And Millie's Retirement Handicap Chase (GBB Race)

Off time: 19:12 | Winning time: 5m 10.00s

Quick Sharpener^t⁵⁷

Age: 9| Weight: 12-1| J: G Sheehan| T: Jamie Snowden| OR: 111| DWS

13/2

Unreliable type who lost his way last season. Presented with a very soft opening when winning a match at Hereford (21f) in May but subsequently finished tailed off at Worcester (23f) since. Easy enough to look elsewhere (has had another breathing operation).

Lady Kara^h,t⁵⁸

Age: 5| Weight: 12-0| J: Charlie Hammond| T: Dr R Newland| OR: 110| C

5/2

Thriving over hurdles and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat to complete a hat-trick here in June (lost place but came back in tremendous style in straight). Had her winning run ended switched to chasing at Stratford later that month and will need to jump much better to feature.

Form: 2-3111U

Thickthorn Tom^b,t⁴²

Age: 6| Weight: 11-11| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR: 107| CD

5/4

Much improved over fences this season, making it 3 wins from his last 4 starts when scoring under a penalty at Worcester (2½m) 6 weeks ago. Upped 5 lb for that but travels so strongly should still prove competitive.

Form: 3-21211

It's A Breeze^h,t³⁹

Age: 7| Weight: 11-10| J: Paddy Hanlon⁽⁵⁾| T: P F Nicholls| OR: 106| CD

10/3

Maiden hurdler who has taken time to find his feet over fences but was impressive in opening his account over C&D last month. Defied a penalty in another weak affair over C&D 6 days later and worth taking on in his hat-trick bid having been raised another 8 lb.

Form: 6F-P411

Forecasts

Thickthorn Tom (5/4), Lady Kara (5/2), It's A Breeze (10/3), Quick Sharpener (13/2), McGregors Charge (10/1)

THICKTHORN TOM typically didn't do a great deal once hitting the front when making it 3 wins from his last 4 starts at Worcester 6 weeks ago but given he travelled supremely well for much of the contest, Dan Skelton's charge should still prove competitive form 5 lb higher. He gets the nod over It's A Breeze, who has been raised 15 lb for winning a couple of weak C&D races last month. McGregors Charge can fill out third.
