Wasn't seen to best effect in a sprint finish this corresponding event 12 months ago. Subsequently as good as ever when seeing off a trio of next-time-out winners at Aintree in October. Had won reappearance in 2025 but possibly needed return last month. Interesting if back on song.

C&D winner hasn't tasted success since October 2024. Handicapper slow to relent following several placed efforts in small-field handicap since, typically making mistakes when beaten just under 3 lengths over C&D last time. Looks the most likely pace angle in here.
Won both completed starts in points/shaped well in hunter chase on Rules debut. Belied market weakness to make a successful stable/hurdling debut over C&D prior to a weak-finishing effort at Worcester (2½m). Addition of cheekpieces should benefit but his opening mark does him no favours.
Quirky sort who recorded a fourth course victory when successful in this race 12 months ago. Looked to be building up to a full-scale revival with consecutive thirds at Uttoxeter before unsuited by the drop in trip here latest. Very interesting back up in distance off 3 lb lower than last year.
Relatively lightly-raced 7-y-o who made a successful return in a 2½m course maiden in May. Has confirmed that improvement in a pair of handicaps since, though was perhaps stretched by the trip when beaten 8 lengths in a similar C&D event last time.
In-form mare who notched her third place in 4 starts when 10 lengths second of 5 at Stratford last time, deserving credit having done plenty in first-time visor. Still worth opposing (hasn't won for over 2 years) on a rare start without headgear.

Ernest Gray (3/1), Belvedere Blast (10/3), Lowlands (7/2), Parikarma (11/2), Ballintubber Boy (11/2), Kiwi De Cotte (13/2)
Last year's winner BELVEDERE BLAST looks to have been laid out for this, and he may well repeat the feat off a 3 lb lower mark. Ernest Gray could be a serious threat if back to his best on second start of the season.
