Improved performer since blinkers were applied last summer, successful at Ripon under this rider and runner-up on 2 of 3 starts this season. Should give it another good go.
Won at Redcar and Leicester last summer and returned to form when bossing a 6-runner veterans event from some way out at Catterick (6f, good to firm) in May. Weakened out of it at Nottingham and this his first run over 5f for a little while. Is well drawn, at least.
Bounced back to best when winning at Southwell over this trip in April but hasn't been in same form since on turf.
Now just 1 lb above his last winning mark, gained at Thirsk last summer and ran right up to his best when second at Redcar in June. Just a fair fifth at former track 12 days ago but this is a pretty significant drop in class.
Notched a third victory this year in 6f Haydock handicap in April. Matched that form when second at Newmarket 2 months later (5f) and having been outclassed at York, he turned in a respectable effort last time.
All speed and off the mark for the season at Nottingham in June. Shaped as though in reasonable form both starts since and drop to 5f won't be an inconvenience. Stall 12 could be, though.
Losing run now stands at 22 and despite falling in the weights, he's not really been shaping as though ready to take advantage. This does represent a drop in class, however and stall 3 a good spot to attack from.
Isn't the easiest to win with, often hindering his chance at the start. Cheekpieces didn't really improve things at Pontefract and with the headgear off, he failed to justify his position at the head of the betting down in class at Nottingham 3 weeks ago.
Enhanced excellent Doncaster record when landing 8-runner contest over 6f 12 days ago, holding on gamely. This only his second ever try over the minimum trip but he's well drawn to get in the mix.
More miss than hit in 2025, change of headgear failing to have a positive effect at Yarmouth when last seen in October. Down in the weights but he may need this.
All the better for reappearance when landing 13-runner handicap at Pontefract in April. Runner-up twice later that spring and unlucky not to finish closer than fourth trying to win a C&D handicap again 16 days ago. Of interest despite wide draw.
Proved as good as ever to notch a second win of the season in 10-runner handicap over C&D last month, finishing to good effect to run down the pacesetters and score a shade cosily. Easy to excuse subsequent run here (repeatedly denied clear run).

Forecasts
Shazani (7/2), Call To Action (4/1), American Bay (7/1), Ingleby Archie (8/1), Good Earth (10/1), Jojo Rabbit (10/1), Holbache (10/1), Ventura Express (10/1), Opal Storm (14/1), Squealer (14/1), Castan (16/1), Infinity Blue (25/1)
Paul Midgley is responsible for a couple of class droppers in AMERICAN BAY and Ventura Express. Both are well drawn to attack with the former marginally preferred as he arrives in better order. Shazani and Ingleby Archie drop back in trip but are not short of pace and also enter calculations.
