Age: 3| Weight: 9-13| J: Oisin Murphy| T: W J Knight| OR: 73| D

2/5

Made a winning handicap debut at Newbury (1¼m) in May and confirmed himself as still on the upgrade when readily landing the odds in a 3-runner event at Yarmouth (11.5f, good to firm) 6 days ago. Will prove at least as effective at further but makes appeal to follow up under a penalty.

Mandarin Spirit²⁵

Age: 3| Weight: 9-9| J: K Stott| T: K A Ryan| OR: 75

11/1

Bagged 7f Thirsk maiden last July but has failed to make an impact in 3 handicaps at up to 1¼m this season, albeit unsuited by the switch the hold-up tactics in a modestly-run race at Beverley last time. Down another 4 lb.

9/1

Ulysses gelding who made all to get off the mark at the fourth attempt in a 1¼m Lingfield maiden (heavy) in June. Folded as if amiss on his handicap debut at Chester (12.3f) later that month, so will need to bounce back for all it remains early days for him.

4/1

Yet to score but in good nick since sent handicapping, caught only late by an improved rival when second of 6 at Doncaster (1¼m, good to firm, 3/1) 16 days ago. Should be in the mix again.

Showed more upped to this trip when third of 7 in handicap at Ripon (100/1, 1¼m, good to firm) 12 days ago, rallying in the final 1f after becoming outpaced. Her task is to now back that up from 4 lb out of the weights.

Forecasts

Brighton View (2/5), Saxophonist (4/1), Relentless Hero (9/1), Mandarin Spirit (11/1), Claytons Kolatonic (25/1), Lc Tiffen (80/1)

BRIGHTON VIEW won a small-field event at Yarmouth in good fashion on Sunday and William Knight's progressive colt can follow up over this shorter trip. Saxophonist is holding his form well and can prove the biggest threat ahead of Relentless Hero.
