Theakston Great Yorkshire Pint EBF Novice Stakes (GBB Race)

Off time: 14:44 | Winning time: 1m 41.02s

(2)

Le Samourai^t³⁰

Age: 3| Weight: 9-11| J: Edward Greatrex| T: R M Beckett| OR: 79

10/3

Unlikely to live up to his pedigree (half-brother to high-class Romantic Warrior), but he did leave his debut form behind when successful in first-time tongue strap at Kempton (7f). Should be more to come over this longer trip and he can go well under a penalty.

Form: 01

Age: 6| Weight: 9-11| J: J Garritty| T: B Ellison

100/1

Went with no encouragement on belated debut at Southwell (100/1).

(1)

Test Run¹⁶

Age: 3| Weight: 9-4| J: Billy Garritty| T: M & D Easterby

33/1

Shaped well when fourth behind some very useful types on debut at Doncaster last September. Given a considerate return to action (following 10 months off) at Hamilton earlier this month and could make his mark in handicaps after this run.

Form: 4-5

(4)

West Sleekburn Lad⁵⁷

Age: 3| Weight: 9-4| J: Cam Hardie| T: P D Niven

300/1

Showed little in 2 starts 8 months apart.

Form: 0-8

(6)

Brighton Beach²²

Age: 3| Weight: 8-13| J: D Tudhope| T: W J Haggas

5/6

Well-bred daughter of Palace Pier who has shown ability both starts. Only 1 length behind a subsequent winner when second of 3 on return from 11 weeks off at Chester (1¼m) latest. That form sets the standard, and she's probably good enough to get away with this drop back in trip.

Form: 53

Rule 4

Rule 4 applies to all bets - deduction 30p in the pound

Forecasts

Brighton Beach (5/6), Regal Desire (2/1), Le Samourai (10/3), Test Run (33/1), Ben Travato (33/1), Morty Robinson (100/1), West Sleekburn Lad (300/1)

BRIGHTON BEACH's Chester form was given a timely boost earlier this week and she may get off the mark with Danny Tudhope taking over. Regal Desire is feared in her bid to make it third time lucky, while there should be better to come from Le Samourai.
