Successful over C&D and Southwell this year. Has struggled to get competitive from a 4 lb higher mark since and the handicapper shows some mercy.
Won here last June (sole previous time in a tongue tie) and showed a lot more on second start for Pat Phelan back down in trip after 3 months off when fourth of 12 at Kempton (1m) in February. Bit disconcerting he's moved yards again but a reapplied tongue tie does catch the eye.
Gelded and shaped well despite clearly still being very raw on return/handicap debut when fourth of 10 at Southwell (7f) just under 3 weeks ago, nearest finish having been outpaced 3f out. Up in trip and fancied to do a lot better here.
C&D winner who found run of good form coming to a halt when eleventh of 14 at Kempton (1m) just under 6 weeks ago. Bounce back needed.
Ended a long losing run over C&D in March (second past the post but promoted) and got back on track with the headgear discarded when fourth of 11 here (9.5f) 3 weeks ago. Considered if able to build on that.
Long-standing maiden who generally gives his running, though is proving expensive to follow. Can have his latest Salisbury effort overlooked (went off too hard) and a first-time hood replaces a visor worn last time.
Won a seller in October but hasn't made much impact since leaving Gary & Josh Moore afterwards. Handicapper given him a chance as a result.
Ex-Irish maiden who signed off for Chris Timmons with a good second of 14 at Dundalk (1m) in October. Well backed but ran poorly without usual tongue strap/cheekpieces after 7 months off at Ffos Las recently so needs to leave that well behind.
Finished well held first 2 starts (for George Boughey on debut) but showed first form when fourth of 7 in maiden at Nottingham (8.3f, good) in May. Can progress again now sent down the handicap route.
Improving 4-y-o who has both career wins over C&D, value for extra having made a big move into contention out wide (runner-up won next time) in January. Ran too badly to be true the following month and fancied to get back on track.
Better known for all-weather exploits nowadays but showed the benefit of recent run in a first-time visor when fifth of 8 at Beverley (7.4f, good to firm) 3 days ago. Each-way claims with this step back up in trip promising to suit.
Has had excuses on the all-weather since winning at Southwell in March. Had little prospect of figuring in a tactical affair given his run style when sixth of 8 at Nottingham (8.3f, good to firm) 12 days ago and others more appealing.

Reds And Wolves (11/8), Bajan Bandit (13/2), Eagle Day (7/1), Kit Gabriel (15/2), Cephalus (17/2), The Hare Rail (9/1), American State (12/1), R P Mcmurphy (12/1), Pursuit Of Truth (33/1), Auburn Avenue (40/1), Symphony's Song (50/1), River Wharfe (100/1)
REDS AND WOLVES shaped well despite clearly still being very raw on return/handicap debut at Southwell recently and with further progress on the cards now upped in trip, Hugo Palmer's 4-y-o gets the nod to open his account. Symphony's Song looks a potential improver now handicapping so he looks a threat, with R P McMurphy and Bajan Bandit also considered, too.
