Showed improved form to readily win his first handicap in 7-runner event at Newmarket (5f, good to firm) last week, leading over 1f out. Up 5 lb but fancied to make a good fist of it partnered by Loughnane for the first time.

Failed to beat a rival on first 3 starts for new connections but first-time cheekpieces seemingly transformative in showing much improved form to double his tally in 8-runner handicap at Ffos Las (5f, soft) just over 3 weeks ago. Headgear needs to have the same effect here.

Headstrong sort who has continued to progress as a 3-y-o despite racing too freely, posting a career best when runner-up in 9-runner event at Bath in April. Not so good the last twice, though can have his latest effort at York overlooked (unfavourable draw). Can bounce back.

Made the most of a good opportunity when winning a 6f Bath maiden last summer and ran well returning from 7 months off when fifth of 9 in handicap at Goodwood (5f, good to firm) 5 weeks ago. Handicapper drops him 2 lb.

Displayed a good attitude to fend off a similar type in 7-runner maiden at Catterick (5f, soft) in October, holding on gamely. Nailed only late on by an improver on return/handicap debut at Bath (5.7f, good to firm) last month and has since switched yards.

Much improved when taking 12-runner handicap at Southwell (6f) in April and arrives on the back of good placed efforts over C&D and Goodwood (5f) last month.

Got back on the up on her first start at the minimum trip when ready winner of 8-runner handicap at Lingfield (5f, good to firm) last month. Easy enough to put a line through her subsequent York effort (not well drawn and reared leaving stalls) so shouldn't be underestimated.

Forecasts

Quantum Power (1/1), Eightthreeone (7/2), Guernsey Lady (5/1), Angel Numbers (6/1), Control Room (10/1), Dark Alley (12/1), Alkuwarrior (14/1), Adalida (16/1)

Verdict

This can go to QUANTUM POWER, who readily doubled his tally Newmarket last week and a 5 lb rise shouldn't prove insurmountable. Billy Loughnane is on board for the first time, and he can get the better of stable-switcher Control Room, who was nailed only late on by an improver on her recent handicap debut and she can progress again. Adalida can edge out Angel Numbers for third.
