Success Days At Kilbarry Lodge Stud Mares Maiden Hurdle

Maiden pointer went with little promise in a Clonmel bumper (18/1) on first start for Emmet Mullins. Cheekpieces go on for hurdle debut.

Went with no encouragement on hurdle debut last season and offered little returning to a bumper at Killarney last time.

Ice Breeze mare. Dam, maiden pointer, half-sister to useful hurdler (19f winner) Magic Fabien and fairly useful hurdler (stayed 23f) Sandymount. Newcomer is likely to need time.

Chased home subsequent Grade 2 winner on penultimate bumper start. Too free at Clonmel last time but first-time hood/addition of Paul Townend should help in that regard, and she makes plenty of appeal now sent hurdling by top yard.

Fair bumper performer offered something to build on under patient tactics when third of 18 on hurdle bow at Clonmel (16.5f). Certainly worth a go in first-time blinkers (hinted at temperament in the preliminaries last time) and remains open to improvement over a trip that is likely to suit.

Shaped better than previously when fifth of 16 on qualifying run at Killarney (22.5f), though her opening mark likely suffered as a result, and she may be vulnerable kept to maiden company.

Unpromising in points and has shown little in a trio of bumpers ahead of her hurdle debut.

Promising mare cemented a positive start to her hurdling career when again only finding one too good at Killarney (2¾m) last time, and with better still to come, she looks the one to beat.

Poet's Word mare. Dam unraced sister to fair hurdler/fairly useful chaser (stayed 3m) Aunt Nora and half-sister to useful hurdler (stayed 3m) Dromlease Express. Fell both starts in points (latest last month) and is bred to be one for the longer term.

Made more impact than previously when fifth of 11 in a juvenile hurdle at Limerick (2m, soft) in late-March. More needed to trouble the principals but she's bred to stay well and remains open to improvement up in trip.
