Bordering on useful up to 1¾m on the Flat for Ed Walker and showed the benefit of his initial experience over hurdles in a first-time tongue strap when readily landing 2m maiden at Southwell 17 days ago. Can go on improving and this looks an excellent opportunity under a penalty.

Modest handicapper on Flat (stays 1½m) who won twice at Lingfield in 2024 but below form last year and was pulled up on recent hurdling debut at Hereford.

Shirocco gelding who was well supported when making a winning start in a Haydock bumper for Don Cantillon in May 2025. Changed hands for a 6-figure sum but went backwards from his hurdling debut when comfortably held in 2m Warwick maiden 19 days ago and presumably has his sights set on handicaps.

Fairly useful Flat performer at 1¼m for Karl Burke. New connections acquired him for 67,000 gns last autumn and offered something to work on sent hurdling when second in 8-runner novice at Newton Abbot (17f) earlier in the month, despite refusing to settle. Hood now fitted and should do better.

King's Scholar (2/7), Arbitration (9/2), So Proud (6/1), Magna Patch (50/1), Nannymooresbridge (250/1), Delta Legend (250/1)

Verdict

KING'S SCHOLAR showed a nice turn of foot to run out a ready winner on his second hurdle start at Southwell earlier in the month and this looks an excellent opportunity for him to defy a penalty at the first time of asking. Arbitration will need to settle better than on his recent hurdling debut at Newton Abbot but can improve if doing so.
