A fairly useful Flat winner for Andrew Balding but off since coming in last at Ffos Las (1¾m) 8 months ago. Needs to hit the ground running on his hurdling/yard debut.

Promising third of 8 in novice at Perth (2m, good) on his hurdles bow 28 days ago. This fair bumper performer seems sure to progress.

Poor Flat maiden who has offered little in this sphere, blinkered when eleventh of 13 in novice hurdle at Hereford (2m) 36 days ago.

Failed to complete in points but shaped encouragingly when third of 7 in bumper at Southwell in March. Much respected now going hurdling.

50/1, tenth of 12 in novice at Chepstow (2m, good to firm) on hurdles bow 28 days ago. A lot more is required.

Landed 16-runner minor event on sole start on the Flat in France in November. Bred to make a hurdler and confidence behind him in the betting would look significant for top stable.

A fair Flat winner (stays 1½m) in France. Purchased for €26,000 and made an encouraging start switched to timber when third of 9 in juvenile at Catterick (2m, soft) in January. Can build on that so rates a player.

Little promise in a pair of bumpers and she came in last of 7 in novice at Ludlow (2m, good to soft) on hurdles bow 85 days ago.

Fetched £100,000 after winning an Irish point. Well held first 2 runs but better signs when sixth of 13 in novice hurdle at Warwick (2m) 18 days ago. May do better still.

Sent off 9/2 but only tenth of 14 in bumper at Ludlow on her debut 30 days ago. Makes hurdles debut now and this Dartmouth mare is clearly thought capable of better.

Forecasts

Premier Tenor (5/4), L'amalric (10/3), Shamsat (10/3), Eustace Grenier (13/2), Anzac Day (10/1), No Risk Today (20/1), Thatsnotmyname (66/1), Teletime (80/1), Jacquette (200/1), Hopjes (200/1)

Verdict

The market should reveal plenty here but the vote goes to PREMIER TENOR who scored on the Flat in France on his sole outing to date and now starts out hurdling for the powerful Dan Skelton team. Shamsat shaped well on his hurdling bow when third at Catterick and is next on the list ahead of the Olly Murphy-trained duo L'Amalric and Eustace Grenier.
