Has a fine strike-rate for current yard, including landing back-to-back handicaps around 2m at Ludlow/Huntingdon last autumn. Freshened since a below-par third at Ludlow in December.

Won 6 runner selling handicap at Huntingdon (good to soft) in November. Respectable fifth of 8 back there 11 days later. Freshened up since.

Showed improved form to make a winning start to his handicap career at Plumpton (2m, good to soft) 44 days ago. The front 2 were clear so a 5 lb rise doesn't look too severe. Should go well again.

First handicap success at Kempton (2m, good) in March. Went close off the same mark at Ludlow (2m, good to soft) a week later but not so good when fifth of 12 over a longer trip at Plumpton (21f) 6 weeks ago. Quickly returns to 2m.

Stood out on form and made the most of a good opportunity in 6-runner novice at Ludlow (2m) in April 2025. Off for 12 months after but looked as good as ever when third of 7 on 2m Haydock return (good to soft) 35 days ago.

In top form at Worcester last summer, winning twice and runner-up 3 times. Well held back from a break at Haydock 5 weeks ago but ought to be sharper now.

Won his first 2 handicaps but has found things harder since, faring no better for the addition of cheekpieces at Stratford last time. Tumbling in the weights but need to see more.

Forecasts

High Fibre (2/1), Unjeu Royal (5/2), Mojito Des Mottes (7/2), Brendas Asking (9/2), Forget The Way (7/1), Kingston Sunflower (7/1), Chief Sunday (14/1), Bluegrass (14/1), Scintillante (28/1)

Verdict

MOJITO DES MOTTES looked rather unlucky not to make a winning handicap debut at Ascot last time and can gain compensation with Harry Cobden taking the reins now. Fellow unexposed sort Unjeu Royal rates an obvious threat on the back of his handicap success at Plumpton. Brendas Asking made a good return from a year off when third at Haydock last month and may prove best of the remainder.
