Happy 1st Birthday Donnacha Fenelon Novices' Hurdle (GBB Race)

Off time: 15:20 | Winning time: 3m 51.15s

Fiskardo^t²⁶

Age: 6| Weight: 11-2| J: Shane Fenelon⁽⁵⁾| T: M Bowen| D

4/1

Displayed ability when placed on both bumper starts in early 2024/25 and made light of a 20-month absence to get up on the line in a 2m event at Perth last month. Connections will surely have had this as a target since and he makes plenty of appeal on hurdles bow.

Kenobi¹²

Age: 5| Weight: 11-2| J: Conor Ring| T: Mrs C Williams

125/1

Hinted at ability on bumper debut but has made a discouraging start over hurdles around this trip, perhaps unsurprisingly so given his staying pedigree.

Form: 6PP-7

One Knight³⁹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-2| J: Cameron Johnstone-Baker⁽⁷⁾| T: Miss E C Lavelle| D

1/1

Left his debut form well behind when landing 9-runner bumper at Southwell in December 2024 and was even more impressive when defying a penalty after 16 months off at Hereford in March. Perhaps found quick turnaround against him in Aintree Grade 2 last time and sets a good standard if sharper here.

Form: 01/10-

Brenda Lady

Age: 6| Weight: 10-9| J: Harry Reed| T: D A Rees

100/1

Telescope mare. Sister to fair hurdler Far Sight, and half-sister to numerous winners, including useful chaser Dare To Endeavour, stayed 3¼m. Not an obvious type on paper.

Form:

The Flaggy Shore⁷⁴

Age: 5| Weight: 10-9| J: David Noonan| T: Ben Clarke| D

6/4

Easily won sole start in Irish points and looked potentially smart when following up in impressive fashion on her Warwick bumper debut. Built on that when runner-up up in grade at Market Rasen since and was better than the result from a long way back at Sandown last time. Good hurdling prospect.

Form: 1/126-

Forecasts

One Knight (1/1), The Flaggy Shore (6/4), Fiskardo (4/1), Brenda Lady (100/1), Kenobi (125/1)

A good race for this time of year with FISKARDO likely to be primed for this following his Perth bumper success. One Knight was also above average in that sphere and should be involved if coping with a third run in relatively quick succession, whilst The Flaggy Shore also has point/bumper success to her name and should make a hurdler.
