Age: 13|  Weight: 12-0| J: S Bowen| T: O Murphy| OR:  139| CD
Likeable veteran, who having won the race twice previously, showed plenty of ability remains when runner-up in Grade 2 National Spirit at Fontwell in February. Backed that up when fourth in Grade 2 company at Fairyhouse and repeat of that will see him bang there back in a handicap.

Age: 9|  Weight: 11-11| J: G Sheehan| T: O Murphy| OR:  136| D
Now only 1 lb lower than when making successful return to action in the Silver Trophy at Chepstow, his mark having fallen on the back of efforts in high-end spring handicaps. This is a welcome ease in grade.

Fingal's Hillp45
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-5| J: Callum Bewley| T: P Atkinson| OR:  130| CD
In cracking form during the first half of 2025, winning 3 times in all, including this race (from 5 lb lower). Runner-up 3 of 4 starts since and he's a reliable operator despite his advancing years.

Second to Fingal's Hill in this race a year ago and easily best effort since when an excellent second of 22 over C&D a month ago. 3 lb rise very fair and a repeat of that level may well suffice.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-0| J: H Cobden| T: Faye Bramley| OR:  125
Emerging yard has had some success with recruits from the Willie Mullins stable, however, this 5-y-o hasn't made any impact in 4 starts.

Age: 5|  Weight: 10-13| J: Charlie Maggs(3)| T: D McCain Jnr| OR:  124| D
Capitalised on falling mark under more positive ride at Haydock in March and followed up with front-running tactics employed again at Bangor 2 weeks later. Showed good attitude on that occasion but found out by 4 lb rise and a better race here over 2m latest.

Well suited by a return to less testing ground when registering a first handicap success in 6-runner event at Newcastle with a bit in hand. Another sound effort when second upped to 3m at Haydock a month ago and he's not yet fully exposed.

Age: 10|  Weight: 10-12| J: Alice Stevens(3)| T: T Lacey| OR:  123
Seen to advantage when resuming winning ways at Exeter in November. Fourth all 3 starts since at up to 3m and others arrive with more pressing claims.

Age: 7|  Weight: 10-8| J: C Gethings| T: A Ralph| OR:  119| BF
Won a 2m Uttoxeter handicap on soft at the end of 2024. Matched that form when third next 2 starts a year apart but took a pretty big backward step at Ascot in February.

Winner of small-field novice events in 2025 but very little to shout about in handicaps so far. Hood added.

Dual-purpose performer who finally opened his account in either sphere at Perth in August for Olly Murphy. Ran just once for James Owen and just a respectable start for Luke Dace at Southwell last week.

Forecasts

Ike Sport (3/1), Smokeringinthedark (4/1), Brewin'upastorm (9/2), Fingal's Hill (11/2), Static (8/1), Lightningupourdays (10/1), Break Point (12/1), Luttrell Lad (20/1), Rambo T (20/1), El Galactico (25/1), Last Kingdom (33/1)

Verdict

IKE SPORT was second to Fingal's Hill in this race a year ago but he arrives on the back of a cracking second in a better C&D handicap than this so he looks the answer this time. That aforementioned rival should give his running again but a bigger threat may emerge in the shape of Rambo T down in class.
