Made a winning bumper debut for Olly Murphy in autumn 2024 but failed to complete in 4 maiden/novice hurdles for Alison Thorpe last autumn. More chance now handicapping for a new trainer after break but still can't make a good case for.

Bumper winner on good ground. Some promise when third of 8 on 2m Uttoxeter handicap debut (soft) when last seen in October. Appeals as one who should have more to offer.

Fair Flat handicapper who seems to be getting the hurdling and strikes as a likely improver now handicapping for the first time in this sphere. High on the list under Sean Bowen.

Fair Flat winner. Placed a few times over hurdles, including in 2m handicaps. Ran as well as could be expected when fifth in Ayr maiden at the recent Scottish Grand National meeting. More chance back in a handicap. Tongue tied first time.

Has shown only minor promise so far and pulled up on Market Rasen handicap debut in January. Still relatively early days but can only really watch this time.

Made more of an impact than previously when second of 9 at Exeter (17f, good to soft) 18 days ago but she was beaten 25 lengths and will need to take another step forward if she's to go one better now.

Improved second on 2m Taunton handicap debut in March and a couple of possible excuses when failing to reproduce that over 2½m at Wincanton since. Respected back at 2m.

Dual juvenile hurdle winner during time with Adrian Keatley. Back in form when second in Newton Abbot selling handicap in September (only run for Daisy Hitchens) but well below that level in for this yard since, including over fences last twice. Visored for first time over jumps (wore once on Flat).

Fair form in 4 starts on the Flat for Kevin Philippart De Foy in 2025 but well held in 3 outings over hurdles for current yard. More chance now handicapping but others are still preferred.

Forecasts

Uncle Remus (7/2), Berkshire Smudge (4/1), Penn Avenue (9/2), Walk In The West (5/1), Collanisi (6/1), Forever Penywern (7/1), Kates Choice (17/2), Prince Rhinegold (12/1), Model Approach (18/1), Get The Value (25/1), And She Was (28/1), Bowling Shane (40/1), Peace Motivator (80/1)

Verdict

BERKSHIRE SMUDGE has got a bit better with each start over hurdles and if that trend continues, he has a decent chance of winning off an opening mark which looks workable. Collanisi brings unexposed potential to his handicap debut for Ben Pauling and is second choice ahead of Penn Avenue and Walk In The West.
