140,000 gns Kodiac Colt made an encouraging start when third of 9 on debut at Newbury, just running out of steam late having been a bit keener than ideal. That's typically one of the better early-season maidens so big player with improvement expected.

Age: 2|  Weight: 9-7| J: D Egan| T: K P De Foy| BF
Naval Crown colt who was strong in the betting when fourth (a neck behind Jaan Ki Tukri) on debut at Newbury, shaping with plenty of encouragement. Gets a vote of confidence from David Egan and with improvement likely, he should be firmly in the mix.

Persian Force colt offered something to work with amid greenness when runner-up on debut at Wolverhampton, and while entitled to do better, he looks the stable's second string on jockey bookings.

100,000 gns yearling. Persian Force colt. Closely related to useful 2-y-o 6f winner Beauty Inspire and half-brother to useful winner up to 8.6f Darwell Lion (2-y-o 7f winner) and winner up to 7f Camera Shy (2-y-o 6f winner). Bred to make an impact as a juvenile and he's in excellent hands to do so.
Timeform
Foaled May 28. Blackbeard colt. Dam, 6f-7f winner, half-sister to smart winner up to 7f Dancing Star. Hails from a family that connections have had plenty of success with, and he's afforded plenty of respect on his racecourse bow.

Forecasts

Jaan Ki Tukri (3/1), Napa (7/2), Persian Spring (5/1), Agamemnon (5/1), The Dancing Pirate (6/1), Beauty For Love (8/1), Noble Raider (10/1)

Verdict

A valuable novice and it could pay to focus on JAAN KI TUKRI and Napa, who both shaped well in a Newbury maiden that's usually worth following. Clive Cox's charge is fancied to confirm his superiority having been keener than ideal on that occasion. Richard Hannon has had success in this race in recent years and his Persian Spring heads a quartet of interesting newcomers.
