New Bay colt who shaped as if in need of the experience when finishing mid-field in 1m maiden on debut at this course in November. Surprise were he not capable of better as a 3-y-o with this significant step up in trip likely to suit. Holds an Irish Derby entry.

Hinted at ability when finishing sixth in 1¼m Curragh maiden on debut 4 weeks ago but likelihood is he's one for later on.

€125,000 yearling, Galiway colt. Half-brother to 3 winners, including 6.5f-1m winner Rising Up and 1m/8.6f winner Popeye Doyle. Dam winner up to 1m (including at 2 yrs). Noteworthy newcomer.

Bred in the purple but very much looked a work in progress when finishing mid-field in a pair of back-end turf maidens at up to 1m. Equipped with cheekpieces for return and surely capable of better given stable he represents.

Mendelssohn gelding who showed ability at huge odds when fourth in a 1m maiden here 7 weeks ago, keeping on without being unduly punished. Entitled to build on that.

Makes plenty of appeal on paper but low-key start to career when last of 10 in a Curragh maiden (1¼m, heavy, 33/1) 26 days ago.

Green and never figured in pair of 1m turf maidens during the autumn. Another who will hold more chance in handicaps after this.

Druids Glen (4/6), Bay Of Stars (7/2), Changing Lanes (8/1), I Hope You Dance (10/1), Mendez (12/1), Sir Trancealot (28/1), Bell Ex Too (33/1)

Verdict

DRUIDS GLEN very much looked a work in progress in 2 starts over shorter as a juvenile and Aidan O'Brien's choicely-bred colt can improve hiked up in trip and open his account on his return. Similar comments apply to Dermot Weld's Irish Derby entrant Bay of Stars and he commands a close look. Mendez is entitled to improve after his encouraging debut at 100/1 here 7 weeks ago.
