Resumed winning ways over 1¼m here last month and came from well off the pace when following up at Doncaster 9 days later. Down the field upped to this trip in hat-trick bid at Lingfield but not much went right that day and he should stay this far.

Dual winner in 2025 who resumed with a career best when narrowly denied in 8-runner handicap on the all-weather at Lingfield (1½m) last month, despite typically looking a little awkward. Again went close with blinkers refitted (on again here) at Southwell recently and he's a big player.

Put in a good shift when a close third of 10 over 1½m at Wolverhampton in October. Has struggled to get competitive next 4 starts but there have been excuses along the way (inadequate test dropped to 9.5f last time) and he's now 1 lb below last winning mark.

Got off the mark over C&D in October and has made the frame on several occasions since. However, there were no obvious excuses at Southwell last time and may again find a few too good on this debut for new yard. Tongue strap refitted.

In good form since returning from a break in January, following a couple of solid placed efforts with a deserved first success on the all-weather over C&D on penultimate start. Lost little caste in defeat when a close third in a 4-runner race at Southwell (1¾m) next time and he needs considering.

Unsurprisingly shaped as if needing the run after 19 months off when last of 9 in 1m handicap here on first run for present connections. Others make more appeal.

Forecasts

Patrol (9/4), Mao Shang Wong (5/2), Analogical (10/3), Clansman (10/3), Moon Sniper (18/1), Roger Henry (125/1)

Verdict

The return to this trip will be a significant plus for PATROL, who found things happening all too quickly dropped to 9.5f at Wolverhampton 3 weeks ago. He has edged below his last winning mark and shades preference in a race where it's likely to be a case of fine margins. Provided that this doesn't become overly tactical, Mao Shang Wong will be a big threat, while both Analogical and Clansman should be in the mix, too.
