Off the mark at Lingfield in January and doubled his tally at Chelmsford (1¾m) in March, suited by the emphasis on stamina. Again ran well upped to 2m when second at Kempton 9 days ago, so he enters calculations.

Fairly useful winning hurdler but below that level in 3 starts on the Flat, though there were encouraging signs when a staying-on sixth of 9 in novice at Lingfield (1½m) in September. Well held over hurdles last time, but could do better handicapping in this sphere.

Placed twice from 3 starts in bumpers and made the frame on second outing in this sphere last year. However, making handicap debut he failed to improve when seventh of 9 over this C&D in January. Cheekpieces added.

Improved with each of his 3 starts for Paul Midgley and showed promise on yard/hurdling debut when fifth of 9 in juvenile at Kempton in December. However, back on the level he finished well held in handicap at Lingfield (1½m) 3 weeks ago.

After 10 weeks off (had been gelded), showed much improved form when opening his account with a 9-length success over C&D in October. Not in the same form here 15 days later, but no surprise to see him bounce back with yard going well ahead of return.

Fair form for Ralph Beckett and has shaped encouragingly in 2 starts for current yard this year, proving himself at 1¾m at the first attempt when runner-up at Wolverhampton 15 days ago. Could still have more to offer.

Off the mark when landing the odds in 5-runner handicap at Newcastle in September 2024, his final outing for Rebecca Menzies. Subsequently missed 19 months, but showed ability remains when fifth of 10 in handicap at this course (1½m) 10 days ago.

Without a win in handicaps but placed on 3 of her final 4 starts last year. After 4 months off (usual headgear left off but now reapplied), shaped as if needing the run when seventh of 10 at Wolverhampton 15 days ago.

BETELGEUSE left his previous efforts behind when running out a wide-margin winner over C&D in October and, having disappointed turned out again quickly, he is well worth another chance on his return. Shipshape has made a promising start for his current trainer and could be the main danger, ahead of Mio Amico.
