Stepped up from previous hurdling efforts when 10¼ lengths third of 12 to Dartmouth Rose in novice handicap at Southwell last time. She'll stay further than 2½m, so sharp nature of track a concern, but she'll have place claims if building on that latest effort.

Took advantage of a lenient mark when winning an 11-runner novice handicap at Hereford last month and, with a 3 lb rise looking fair in the circumstances, this low-mileage mare is fancied to follow up.

Standout efforts over hurdles when placed in handicaps at this course in February and when 8½ lengths third of 11 to Cosmic Soul in novice event at Sedgefield 17 days ago. Cheekpieces replacing previously worn visor need to have a positive effect.

Belatedly got off the mark when winning at this course in September. Has held form since, but patient tactics that are usually employed often leave him a hostage to fortune in relation to the pace and another minor role looks likely.

Modest maiden on the Flat for Rae Guest and little impact in novice/maiden hurdles for this yard. Makes handicap hurdle debut.

Off the mark at Wolverhampton on the Flat in October prior to posting 3 solid in frame efforts over hurdles. Unsuited by softer conditions when last seen in this sphere and recent second back on the Flat suggests she's back in good heart. Leading player.

Potentially well treated on the chasing form he was capable of a couple of years ago, but hasn't set the world alight since returning from a lengthy absence. Unproven at this trip and readily passed over.

Was capable of fair form on the Flat in France for previous connections but hasn't cut much ice over hurdles and will need to take a significant step forward to be competitive here, even with her 4-y-o allowance.

Long-standing maiden who wouldn't be without a chance on the pick of his efforts but arrives here on the back of 2 particularly poor runs. Races from 5 lb out of the handicap.

Forecasts

By The Grace (11/4), Lillistar (10/3), De Deli Counter (5/1), Lemon Leaf (5/1), Fine As Wine (11/2), Gms Prince (13/2), Blue Bear (9/1), Perfect Arch (14/1), Inlet (16/1), Times A Wastin (20/1), Raincloud (100/1), Melosa (100/1)

Verdict

BY THE GRACE has clearly had her issues, but there was plenty to like about her Hereford win last month and she is taken to defy a 3 lb rise. Lillistar should be suited by these less testing conditions and looks the main danger, while Gms Prince is also worth considering.
