Smart performer with a fine record fresh, including a Naas listed race last season before following up 3 months later in a Group 3 at the Curragh. Good third in Group 1 Flying Five Stakes there next time and though he was below form at the Breeders' Cup last time, rates the one to beat on comeback.

Listed winner at Naas (5.9f) in October and was a shade better than the result when fourth of 12 in a Chantilly Group 3 next time. Place claims on comeback.

Useful sort for Clive Cox and made a promising start for this stable (switched yards for 130,000 gns) when runner-up in a 4-runner minor event at Dundalk (5f) in February. Connections have a good record with similar types.

Progressive last year, perhaps unlucky not to score at Group level when beaten a neck despite trouble in running in Renaissance Stakes at the Curragh (6f, soft) in September. Not yet at the level required in the Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot (6f, good to firm) next time. Respected on return.

Third on belated debut at Dundalk in December before running out an emphatic 6-length winner of a 14-runner maiden there the following month. This is clearly much tougher but he's open to improvement on turf debut

Hasn't stood much racing in recent seasons but has proved she retains ability when fourth in big-field handicaps at Naas and the Curragh this season. This is much tougher.

Winless for a while but was runner-up a Curragh listed race and a Chantilly Group 3 late last season. Below-par effort on heavy ground when last seen and returns with yard in good nick.

Seen to good effect from the front on her yard debut (formerly trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien) when 3½ lengths fifth of 10 in the Gladness Stakes at the Curragh (7f, heavy, 40/1) last week. Bit more needed if she's to go closer here.

Fairyhouse maiden winner on second start at 2 yrs before making the frame in the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood. Went down only narrowly in a listed Fairyhouse event in September and might've been feeling effects of quick turnaround next time. Receives weight all round on return.

Forecasts

King Cuan (11/8), Bucanero Fuerte (9/4), Navassa Island (10/1), Unique Journey (10/1), Powerful Nation (10/1), Wannabe Royal (14/1), Kerdos (14/1), Soldier's Tree (22/1), Chicago Call (22/1), Thunderbear (25/1), Magical Vision (40/1)

Verdict

BUCANERO FUERTE showed his form at the very highest level and has an exceptional record fresh, so can successfully concede weight back at listed level. King Cuan enjoyed a good 4-y-o campaign and should continue to make his mark in this company, whilst Kerdos is very interesting on second start for a yard that do well with new recruits.
