Took this prize from a 1 lb lower mark 12 months ago and lines up for repeat bid having been in decent nick when last seen, suited by the strong pace when third at Warwick (2m) on New Year's Eve. Can make his presence felt again.

Still a maiden but there have been encouraging signs of late, likely he'd have won with a better jump at the last when third at Taunton (2m) 16 days ago. Back up in the weights following that effort but he's capable of defying this sort of mark on that evidence. Player.

Veteran is without a win since 2019 but his mark reflects that and he posted easily his best effort for some time when edged out late on at Huntingdon (16.5f) 7 days ago. A repeat gives him claims but he's no sure thing to be in the same form.

Scored over C&D in November and going well when unseated rider 2 out in handicap chase at Taunton (18.2f) on penultimate start. Let down by jumping in small field at Fontwell over Christmas but given a break ahead of this and his yard have been amongst the winners.
|
Shaped like a stayer in 2 Irish bumpers but finished well beaten in maiden/novice hurdles for this yard and fared no better for switch to handicaps over fences when well held fourth at Ffos Las (2m) 33 days ago. One to note if market speaks in his favour.
|
Uninspiring form for previous yard this winter and he caused a surprise when making a successful start for present yard over C&D last week. However, strength of that form is questionable and he's likely to find this more demanding under a penalty.

Forecasts
Chestnut Pete (15/8), The Brickey Ranger (7/2), Ballywood (4/1), Blackijo Dagrostis (9/2), McGrath From Clune (15/2), Quinta Brigada (16/1)
BLACKIJO DAGROSTIS probably would have won with a better jump at the last when third at Taunton 16 days ago and he can confirm the promise of that effort and belatedly get off the mark. Last year's winner Chestnut Pete may emerge next best, ahead of Mcgrath From Clune.
