John Haine Memorial Handicap Chase (GBB Race)

Plenty of solid form this season, pulling clear of a subsequent winner when second behind Koukeo at Haydock, and the quick turnaround was the likely cause of his first poor run for new connections at Sandown in late-January.

Prone to mistakes but has only been beaten by unexposed novices on previous 2 completed starts, latterly over C&D, and he's entitled to be in the mix if his jumping holds up in new combination of headgear.

Free-going sort hasn't kicked on from chase debut/reappearance success and it's difficult to know if more patient tactics would have benefitted here last time, unseating through no fault of his own at the sixth.

Encouraging start when making it 2-2 over fences at Haydock (solid form) but well held in Greatwood Gold Cup at this track last time. Should relish these conditions, though, and may bounce back with sights lowered.

Landed 2m chases at Sandown previous 2 seasons and looks to be building up to something this time around, only beaten by a novice at Leicester and going well in front when rider took wrong course at Stratford last time. Makes appeal from 2 lb below latest winning mark.
