Winner of bumpers on good/good to firm at Bangor and Stratford last summer. However, conceding weight all round in this much stronger race on the back of a 7-month absence will not be easy.

Looked good when winning a soft-ground Doncaster bumper on debut in January, always travelling well and, having been produced to lead over 1f out, he quickly put daylight between himself and his rivals. Top yard saddled the winner of this last year and he's a very strong candidate.

Offered something to work on when fourth of 8 in a 2m Chepstow bumper on debut in December. Duly built on that when scoring over the same C&D the following month and, provided that he takes another step forward here, he could have a part to play.

Scopey sort who didn't shape at all badly on his introduction over this C&D in November. Showed the benefit of that experience when scoring in decisive fashion at Kempton (2m, soft) next time and there is surely better to come.

Harzand gelding who overcame inexperience to make a winning debut at Wincanton in November. Ran well upped in grade when fourth of 15 in listed event at Ascot a month later, but it's surprising to see him back here given that going left-handed didn't appear to suit him over this C&D last time.

£26,000 purchase out of a bumper winner who stayed 23f. Pulled up sole start between the flags and will need to be pretty useful in order to make a successful Rules debut in this contest.

Poet's Word gelding who is bred to be useful and produced a promising first effort when runner-up in a bumper at Wetherby (2m, good) last spring. Subsequent fifth of 13 in a Cheltenham listed race was no backward step and should pick up a race before long. Harry Skelton prefers Diamond Street.

Looked useful when quickening nicely to land a Wincanton bumper debut in November and subsequent third to a potentially smart type at Cheltenham on New Year's Day represented a step in the right direction. Solid each-way chance with Harry Cobden booked.

Half-brother to fair hurdler Prolific Profile and made winning start to his career in a Carlisle 7-runner bumper (17f, good to soft) last month. Clearly has an engine but this is a significantly stronger race.

£52,000 half-sister to useful hurdler/very smart chaser Midnight River and fair hurdler Gentle Connections. Didn't shape badly on her introduction at Warwick in November and while this demands a sizeable step forward, she's in good hands and is open to improvement. Yard also runs Master Roque.

Performed to a fair level when seventh of 9 in a bumper at Ascot on debut, just lacking a turn of foot when the sprint developed. Should do better in time but others make more appeal on this occasion.

£15,000 Getaway mare out of a 17f-2½m hurdle/chase winner who stayed 23f. Interesting that this Irish raider starts off in a race of this nature and it'll be interesting to see how she shapes up in the betting.

£19,000 half-brother to 4 winners, including modest 2m hurdler Dolly McQueen. Predominantly Flat-based yard is 3-10 in bumpers and this 4-y-o needs a second look in the betting.

£54,000 brother to French hurdler Iban Roque. Hails from a highly respected yard and the betting should offer clues in respect of the stable pecking order (yard also saddles Callisto Queen).

No Risk At All gelding. Half-brother to French 2m hurdle winner Lady du Chenet. Yard recently saddled a winning bumper newcomer at Doncaster but this one has been pitched into a pretty strong race for his debut.

£20,000 brother to bumper winner/fair 2½m hurdle winner Glancing Jack, while dam was a 2m-2½m hurdle winner. Yard's strike rate in bumpers in recent seasons is healthy enough and the market will likely prove informative.

£45,000 Order of St George filly out of a 15f/17f hurdle winner. Yard's strike rate in this race-type is no more than fair and it's likely that this filly will be better for the run.

£55,000 half-sister to fairly useful 2½m hurdle winner Blue Run. Yard has had some success in bumpers (16% strike rate in recent seasons) and she's worth a second look.

£52,000 sister to bumper winner Chatty Girl and didn't do a great deal wrong when chasing home a useful-looking type on debut at Wincanton. That experience won't be wasted on her and she has to enter calculations.

The one with the most striking potential is DIAMOND STREET, who represents last year's winning yard and created a very good impression when brushing his rivals aside at Doncaster. Indeed, he could turn out to be smart and earns preference ahead of another promising type in Lover Desbois, while Madam Speaker should build on her encouraging Wincanton debut and she can also take a hand in the finish. Bailly's Comet. Keltype and the selection's stablemate The Mad Poet all have each-way claims.
