First Past The Post At CopyBet Maiden Hurdle (GBB Race)

Off time: 14:23 | Winning time: 5m 10.94s

Berks And Bucks⁵¹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-7| J: Tom Cannon| T: L Wadham

25/1

Only mid-division in 2 bumpers and went with little encouragement on hurdles debut in January.

Form: 57P

Exiguus¹⁰¹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-7| J: Tom Midgley⁽³⁾| T: N Kent

40/1

His efforts in 2 course bumpers nearly 10 months apart weren't devoid of promise but still a bit of a surprise were he to strike at the first time of asking over hurdles.

Form: 4-5

Plains Drifter⁵⁹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-7| J: J J Burke| T: F O'Brien| OR: 116

10/11

Third in an Irish point. Runner-up in a course bumper and C&D novice hurdle since joining Fergal O'Brien. Respectable third of 11 at Ludlow (21f, soft) last time. Unlikely to be far away.

Form: 32-523

Sonyourastar¹⁰⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 11-7| J: S Bowen| T: O Murphy

15/2

Failed to win in 6 Irish points but has joined a leading yard for his hurdle career so needs checking out in the betting.

Form: 57-8234

The Dog Thief²⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 11-7| J: Jack Andrews| T: T Ellis

11/4

Successful sole outing in points in December. Couldn't live with an impressive Willie Mullins winner but still shaped with encouragement when second in maiden hurdle at Carlisle (19f, soft) on Rules debut 27 days ago. Open to progress.

Form: 12

The Kings Soldier^t¹⁸⁰

Age: 5| Weight: 11-7| J: Mr J Stevenson⁽⁷⁾| T: Tracey Leeson

300/1

Pulled up sole start in points and comfortably held in a bumper and 2 maiden hurdles under Rules. First outing for 6 months.

Form: P566

Tobyshill^t1⁵⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 11-7| J: G Sheehan| T: Nick Scholfield

10/3

£85,000 purchase from the Irish pointing field. Weakened into a well-held fifth on his 21.5f Ascot hurdle debut for Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies in January but he rates a potential improver for his in-form new stable. Also tongue tied first time.

Form: 15

Inlet⁵³

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: William Maggs⁽³⁾| T: M E Sowersby

300/1

Modest maiden on the Flat for Rae Guest and beaten a long way in 2 novice hurdles at Catterick for this yard.

Form: 50

Forecasts

Plains Drifter (10/11), The Dog Thief (11/4), Tobyshill (10/3), Sonyourastar (15/2), Berks And Bucks (25/1), Exiguus (40/1), Inlet (300/1), The Kings Soldier (300/1)

There was plenty to like about THE DOG THIEF's Carlisle hurdle debut second and he may ensure that Plains Drifter has to settle for the runner-up spot here again. Tobyshill is also interesting on first start for Nick Scholfield, particularly if the betting vibes are strong.
