Royal Infantryt21
Age: 7|  Weight: 12-0| J: Tristan Durrell| T: D Skelton| OR:  140| D
Useful hurdler who matched the form of his solid reappearance third at Chepstow in October when chasing home a progressive, unexposed type over C&D 3 weeks ago. Perhaps not on quite as competitive a mark as some of these but should give a good account nonetheless.

Signed off last term with back-to-back victories in handicap hurdles at Bangor and Ayr. Winner twice over fences this season, too, but he was pulled up on latest start in that sphere last month and again failed to fire back hurdling at Newbury a fortnight ago.

Age: 9|  Weight: 11-10| J: Thomas Bellamy| T: A King| OR:  136
Highly promising novice during 2021/22 campaign, featuring a Grade 2 success at Cheltenham and a good third in the Mersey Novices' Hurdle at Aintree. However, he's been absent since finishing third of 10 on handicap debut at Newbury in December 2023, so his wellbeing has to be taken on trust.

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-10| J: R P McLernon| T: N P Mulholland| OR:  136| BF| D
Thoroughly progressive last term, winning first 4 starts of that campaign followed by a series of fine efforts in defeat, including when third in this 12 months ago. Again performed well here when second over C&D on penultimate start and things didn't pan out favourably at Musselburgh next time.

La Pinsonnierep35
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-4| J: N de Boinville| T: N J Henderson| OR:  130
Useful form in France and posted best effort so far for present yard when runner-up in a listed contest at Cheltenham last spring. Wasn't given a hard time on belated reappearance at Warwick last month and, likely to be sharper now, she needs considering on just her second run in handicap company.

Won 3 times during the summer and returned to form when fourth in Grade 2 company at Cheltenham in December. Struggled at Doncaster last time, however, and looks on a stiff mark back in a handicap.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-2| J: C Gethings| T: K Bailey & M Nicholls| OR:  128| BF
Runner-up in Irish point last February and duly built on encouraging hurdles debut fourth at Uttoxeter by winning an Aintree maiden and Hereford novice (both at around 2½m). Failed to improve when fourth on handicap debut at the latter course in December but still has time on his side.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-0| J: H Cobden| T: P F Nicholls| OR:  126
€135,000 purchase who got back on the up following a wind op by winning handicaps at Plumpton and Sandown on first 2 starts of this season. Form has dipped since, though, and there's a question mark surroung the suitability of this trip (pulled up sole previous try at around 2½m).

Turndlightsdownlow58
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-13| J: J J Burke| T: M Keighley| OR:  125| BF| CD
Low-mileage, progressive sort who readily landed a brace of C&D handicaps in the autumn. Subsequent seconds at Sandown at Wincanton (both at around 3m) have represented further progress and while he continues to climb the weights, this 6-y-o has to enter calculations.

Age: 7|  Weight: 10-10| J: Miss O Nicholls(5)| T: P F Nicholls| OR:  122
Useful winning stayer on the Flat in France and, following victories in handicaps in this sphere at Wincanton and Musselburgh, he was a good fourth in the Lanzarote over C&D in January. Behind Royal Infantry when again fourth here next time and will need to raise his game in order to take this.

The Gray Ghostt21
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-8| J: Liam Harrison| T: R L Llewellyn| OR:  120
Opened hurdles account at third attempt for current yard last season and regained the winning thread when accounting for 8 rivals in a 9-runner Newcastle handicap (17f, good to soft) 3 weeks ago. 3 lb nudge fair enough and stepping back up in trip shouldn't be an issue.

Le Tiep's Sacre373
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-6| J: Caoilin Quinn| T: G & J Moore| OR:  118
Fairly useful form in France for David Cotti and, having changed hands for €150,000, he confirmed the promise of his British debut when landing a Fontwell maiden (17.7f, good to soft) last March. Absent since but, as a low-mileage handicap debutant from a respected yard, he needs a second look.

Irish import who bagged a 3m Chepstow handicap in October but he has struggled in 3 runs since the turn of the year. Has undergone another wind op since latest start and needs to bounce back in a major way.

Age: 5|  Weight: 10-2| J: Sean Houlihan| T: P J Rothwell| OR:  114
Caught the eye of stewards when finishing with running left at Thurles over 2m on penultimate start. Subsequent handicap debut third upped to 21f at Punchestown was promising and this Irish raider is an interesting candidate.

Forecasts

Double Powerful (6/1), La Pinsonniere (7/1), Royal Infantry (7/1), Turndlightsdownlow (7/1), The Gray Ghost (8/1), Marsiac (8/1), Le Tiep's Sacre (10/1), Moon Mission (10/1), Fasol (10/1), Nardaran (12/1), Intosomethinggood (14/1), North Lodge (16/1), The Four Sixes (25/1), Tranquil Sea (33/1)

Verdict

It could be worth siding with Irish raider MOON MISSION, who took a step firmly in the right direction when third on his handicap bow at Punchestown where he left the strong impression that there are better days ahead. Double Powerful is a big player judged on his solid effort in the Lanzarote over this C&D in January and he rates the main danger ahead of the progressive Turndlightsdownlow and unexposed Marsiac.
