Lightly-raced 9-y-o who was going the right way when last seen, landing 3m novice/handicap contests at Uttoxeter in summer 2024. Things clearly haven't been plain sailing to be absent since but he's in excellent hands and interesting to see what the market makes of him.

Maiden following 8 starts but improver of late, posting best effort yet when finishing an excellent second in a C&D handicap 19 days ago, pulling long way clear of the remainder. Big shout nudged up just 2 lb.

Shaped with promise first 2 starts but took a slight backward step on quick switch to handicaps at Lingfield in December and disappointed with cheekpieces enlisted (retained here) at Plumpton since. Too soon to be writing off though for yard in excellent form.

No better than midfield on first 2 starts of this season but find the emphasis on stamina right up her street when off the mark in 6-runner mares' handicap at Hereford (21.7f) 3 weeks ago. Value for more than winning margin then and she's of interest now upped to 3m.

Fair maiden who posted her best effort yet when third in a Taunton maiden (19f) in January. However, soon brushed aside once headed on handicap debut at Doncaster latest and present mark looks to demand more. Now steps up in trip.

Runner-up over hurdles at Bangor on reappearance (form worked out well) and excuses on account of quick turnaround at Exeter next time. Quickly reverts to timber following a non-completion over fences at Warwick in December with cheekpieces back on.

Not scored since 2024 but his mark reflects that and he offered a glimmer of encouragement when fifth at Taunton 2 starts back. Bad mistake early did him no favours at Newbury 16 days ago and he's not one to write off entirely just yet.

Held back by headstrong tendencies on the whole and he shaped similarly to previously this term equipped with a tongue tie when fifth of 10 in handicap hurdle (8/1) at Taunton (19f, soft) 30 days ago. Goes back up in trip and others make greater appeal.

Maiden who failed to match his reappearance form, albeit from an opening mark that asked a lot of him when pulled up in 19.8f handicap here 5 weeks ago. Eased 2 lb ahead of this but marked increase in trip needs to bring about improvement.

Forecasts

Crossgales King (6/4), Springtime Legend (11/2), Teorie (13/2), October Hill (15/2), Jack Sprat (17/2), Dr Seb (17/2), It's A Breeze (10/1), Alan Bresil (28/1), Tractor Jack (33/1)

Verdict

CROSSGALES KING has been much improved in handicaps of late, pulling clear with another progressive type when runner-up over C&D 3 weeks ago. He earns the vote to confirm recent promise ahead of Hereford scorer Springtime Legend who looks sure to be suited by this further increase in trip. Jack Sprat and the returning Dr Seb are others worth a second look.
