Progressed with each start getting off the mark at Catterick (4/7f) over 5f last August. Makes handicap/all-weather debut after 6-month break and is capable of better again.

Newcastle novice winner in September who took a step forward when runner-up on handicap debut at Wolverhampton in January. Unable to repeat that up in grade at Newcastle 10 days later but this is a more realistic assignment.

Plenty of promise on turf last summer before landing the odds on all-weather debut at Chelmsford in October. Absent since but remains with potential on just his second start in handicaps.

Won 2 of first 3 starts but form has been mixed since, last seen running poorly in handicap at Southwell in December. Leap of faith needed.

Made it third time lucky in 12-runner maiden at Southwell (6.1f) in September and ran well upped in grade 8 weeks later when seventh of 19 in a listed event at Newmarket (80/1), finding the test too sharp at that level. More to come now handicapping.

Blitzed her rivals from the front in a Beverley maiden (5f) in May. Matched that form when second on 6f Haydock nursery debut in August but was below form both subsequent starts, softer ground perhaps an issue at Haydock in September. All-weather debut.

Progressed with each of his 3 runs, bolting up in 7-runner maiden at Wolverhampton (4/7f) last month, drawing clear from halfway and just kept up to work. Makes his handicap debut and open to further improvement.

Made the most of a good opportunity in another change of headgear in 9-runner maiden at Wolverhampton in January. Likely to find things tougher back in a handicap.

THE LOST SOCK progressed with each start last summer and open to further improvement now handicapping, Roger Varian's colt gets the verdict to make a winning return over Sparksmith, who has a similar profile to the selection but has race-fitness on his side. River Spey and Augustus Gloop complete the shortlist.
