Thrived last season, landing the London National at Sandown, Peter Marsh at Haydock and Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter. Ran at least as well when beaten only a short head in the Becher at Aintree (25.8f, soft) on return but had a rare off-day at Sandown. Type to bounce back.
Four wins in excellent 2023/24 campaign, including this race, but didn't reach anything like the same heights last season. However, took advantage of his reduced mark on return for new yard when making all at Carlisle in November and of firm interest now.
Had a disappointing 2023/24 for David Pipe but back on track for his new yard, winning Summer Cup at Uttoxeter in June. Sound return from 4 months off when close third in Sandown but disappointed at Newbury since. No easy ride (can take little interest/get behind) but should stay this far.
Straightforward type who was successful in 2024 Welsh National at Chepstow and seemingly as good as ever when third in the Becher at Aintree. Ran his usual honest race at Lingfield since and this extreme test will play to his strengths.
Has made a positive start for this yard, building on return when winning here in November. Found the Welsh National at Chepstow too demanding since but he should make more of an impact here.
Suited by an increased test of stamina when making all in the 3½m Sussex National at Fontwell on return. Acquitted himself well when fourth in the Welsh National since is a definite contender.
As good as ever when winning same Aintree race for the second year running on return, beating a subsequent winner. Not quite in same form at Sandown since but worth another chance over a trip he's likely to stay.
Progressed when winning back-to-back handicap chases at Kelso and Ayr (both at around 3m on deep ground) last season. More miss than hit since, however, turning in a lacklustre display at Lingfield last month. Tongue strap on 1st time. 3 lb out of weights.
Generally progressive and added another win to his tally at Market Rasen on Boxing Day. More needed again from out of the handicap/up in trip but he remains unexposed.
Campaigned over fences last season, posting a career best when a wide-margin winner of this race. He's struggled for form since then, though, including back over hurdles last 3 starts. 10 lb out of the handicap.

Forecasts
Anglers Crag (4/1), Fortunate Man (4/1), Livin On Luco (5/1), Dom Of Mary (13/2), Red Delta (15/2), Val Dancer (15/2), Mr Vango (17/2), Only The Bold (18/1), Knockanore (22/1), Whistle Stop Tour (25/1)
ANGLERS CRAG lost his way last season but bounced right back to his best starting out for this yard when taking advantage of his reduced mark at Carlisle on return and is of firm interest now having won this race 2 years ago. This extreme test should bring out the best in Livin On Luco and Val Dancer and they head the dangers.
