Age: 9|  Weight: 12-0| J: Harry Atkins(7)| T: D Skelton| OR:  151| C
Plenty of creditable efforts in graded chases, including third in Silviniaco Conti Chase here in January but made it to 0-5 in handicap chases when well held at Cheltenham latest. Isn't the easiest to place nowadays and forecast rain unlikely to be in his favour.

Henry's Friendp63
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-8| J: Ben Jones| T: B Pauling| OR:  145| D
Better than ever when landing Sodexo Gold Cup at Ascot on reappearance. Bounced back from another Cheltenham blip when not beaten far in the Silver Cup at Ascot last time but may prove vulnerable to improvers off current mark.

Soul Icont42
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-6| J: Rian Corcoran(7)| T: Kieran Burke| OR:  143| C
Beat Edwardstone to win competitive Grade 2 handicap chase here (2m) Christmas 2024 and returned to form despite a sticky round of jumping when close fourth behind The Doyen Chief over C&D last time. This is much more competitive, however.

Deep Cave28
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-4| J: Jack Tudor| T: Christian Williams| OR:  141| D
Finished last season with valuable hurdle success at Aintree and further progress back chasing this season, making it a cross-code hat-trick in Silver Cup at Ascot in December. Winning run ended in somewhat laboured fashion at Doncaster however and more needed to defy career-high mark.

The Doyen Chief42
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-2| J: Thomas Bellamy| T: A King| OR:  139| CD
Strong-travelling sort for a stayer and he was slightly fortunate to make it 2-2 over C&D last month, handed initiative at last and all out to hold on. Escapes with only a 1 lb rise but faces a much more demanding assignment here.

Lookaway42
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-2| J: J M Quinlan| T: N B King| OR:  139| C| D
Likeable front-running hurdler who placed in Grade 2 as novice chaser last season and benefitted from others' mistakes when landing first handicap chase success over 2½m here last time, sticking to his task well. Looks well worth a try over 3m.

Age: 8|  Weight: 10-13| J: Dylan Johnston| T: S Thomas| OR:  136| CD
Most progressive when winning this race in 2025 and looks at the top of his game this season, confirming promise of Coral Gold Cup sixth when just coming off second best at Cheltenham on New Year's Day. Excellent yard sure to have him primed for a repeat bid.

Better than ever when winning valuable Badger Beers at Wincanton on return and still in good form when fourth in Veterans' Final at Sandown last month, not helped by mistakes over Railway fences. More on his plate in this company.

Hoe Joly Smoket,p170
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-8| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR:  131| D
Won twice over this trip as a novice and dropped back to 2½m, found more off the bridle than has been the case when third in Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham in November. Not seen to same effect there last time but looks interesting now tried in first-time headgear on return to 3m.

Chance Another One57
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-8| J: Donagh Meyler| T: E Mullins| OR:  131| CD
Made it 2-2 over fences with an assured C&D success in November and best not judged harshly on subsequent runs over inadequate trips. This yard (also saddle Rising Dust) more than capable of targeting a valuable prize and no surprise to see a better effort here.

Leader In The Park42
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-8| J: H Cobden| T: B Pauling| OR:  131| BF| C| D
Course winner finished ahead of a couple of next-time-out winners when encouraging second on reappearance at Newbury but left the impression all wasn't well behind Lookaway here in January. Unexposed as a staying chaser but Ben Jones prefers Henry's Friend.

Age: 6|  Weight: 10-6| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: A J Honeyball| OR:  129| BF
Left clear to win second chase start at Cheltenham in November and still looked ahead of his mark when runner-up at Aintree. Finished with running left when fourth in Timeform Novices' handicap chase on Trials Day last time and this lightly-raced 6-y-o remains open to improvement upped to 3m.

Rising Dust34
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-4| J: S Bowen| T: E Mullins| OR:  127
Continues to defy the handicapper, making it five wins from his last 6 starts in 14-runner handicap chase at Thurles (20.9f) last month. Up another 11 lb but he's in shrewd hands and could progress again returned to 3m.

Forecasts

Katate Dori (9/2), Hoe Joly Smoke (13/2), Kdeux Saint Fray (15/2), The Doyen Chief (15/2), Chance Another One (8/1), Deep Cave (8/1), Soul Icon (10/1), Rising Dust (10/1), Lookaway (10/1), Henry's Friend (12/1), Leader In The Park (14/1), Boombawn (20/1), Gustavian (25/1)

Verdict

Low-mileage 6-y-o KDEUX SAINT FRAY has more to offer over fences and he makes plenty of appeal tackling 3m for the first time. Last year's winner Katate Dori has proved better than ever this season and can make a bold bid to defend his crown, while Hoe Joly Smoke looks a danger if first-time cheekpieces have the desired effect.
