Showed more than previously over hurdles when second of 18 in maiden at Lingfield (10/1) last month, shaping well as he passed more than half the field from the end of the back straight alone. Open to further improvement.

Shaped encouragingly when second on hurdling debut last spring but has failed to see his races out since, latest on first run since leaving Paul Nolan at Ludlow 5 weeks ago. Drop back in trip should help on that front.

Yeats Gelding. Brother to useful hurdler/very smart chaser De Rasher Counter (2m-3¼m winner), and half-brother to 2 winners, including fair hurdler Cute Cherry (by Fame And Glory). Dam modest 2½m chase winner. Maiden pointer, runner-up last 2 starts (both in April 2025).

Runner-up in bumper and showed promise when placed at Chepstow all 3 outings over hurdles last term. Low-key start this season but finally got back on track in only his second handicap when runner-up over C&D 3 weeks ago. Leading claims back in maiden company.

Forecasts

Shade Of Winter (5/4), Kara Sacre (15/8), Jamada (3/1), Makinbecon (20/1), Minella Mission (80/1)

Verdict

Preference is for JAMADA, who showed plenty more than previously when runner-up at Lingfield last month and Olly Murphy's 6-y-o can go one better with further improvement on the cards. Shade of Winter has found one too strong in half of his 6 hurdles outings, and he may have to settle for silver again, whilst Makinbecon is worth keeping an eye on having finished runner-up on his last couple of point starts.
