Revitalised over hurdles last season, easy winner of C&D handicap before following up at Exeter (23.1f). Bettered previous efforts in this sphere when third on reappearance at Chepstow but unable to build on that effort at Uttoxeter subsequently. New rider tried.

Stepped up on reappearance in refitted blinkers when third of 9 at Ludlow (10/1) 5 weeks ago. Handicapper eases his grip a touch more and there have been more promising signs for this yard in the past week.
Well backed returned to the scene of his previous success and got right back on track to justify the support at Leicester last month (9 runners, 3/1 fav), scoring cosily having travelled smoothly. 5 lb higher here but well worth another shot at this sort of trip.
Going the right way over fences having won 3 of his last 4 starts, latest at Fontwell (6 runners, 11/2) 8 weeks ago. Successful over this C&D on penultimate outing and Sean Bowen taking over from a 5-lb conditional only enhances his claims.
Long time without a win and little to shout about since returning from a 30-month absence in September, blundering 4 out when 11 lengths behind the eventual second. Back up in trip and looks an easy swerve.
Made it second time lucky over fences for Tim Easterby back in 2023. Hasn't clocked many miles since, but efforts for present yard since returning from a 16-month absence have been disappointing, including back over hurdles in cheekpieces last time. Best watched.
Hasn't progressed since showing first form under Rules on chase debut at Lingfield in November, beaten a long way out at Taunton (9/1, 14 runners) 5 weeks ago. First-time cheekpieces need to spark a revival.

Forecasts
River Run Free (6/4), River Voyage (11/4), Esperti (11/2), Haut Folin (13/2), Benny Baloo (10/1), Steal The Moves (11/1), Jaunty Viking (40/1)
RIVER RUN FREE enhanced an already decent strike rate over fences with a smooth success at Leicester last month and David Pipe's 7-y-o is well worth another go over this trip. He gets the nod over Esperti, who is in the form of his life for current connections and Sean Bowen taking over in the plate only enhances his claims further. Previous C&D winner Haut Folin rounds off the shortlist.
