Brecharnon³³⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-9| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| D

4/1

Made a winning debut in a Chepstow bumper for Tom Weston last March. Leading new stable acquired him for £95,000 the following month. Has a penalty to shoulder but he's almost certainly capable of better.

Form: 1-

Arizona Moon³⁷

Age: 5| Weight: 11-2| J: Charlie Hammond| T: S Edmunds

150/1

18/1 and tongue tied, last of 10 in Hereford bumper on debut 37 days ago. The tongue strap is left off this time.

Form: 0

Eclat De Marvel^t1⁹⁴

Age: 6| Weight: 11-2| J: Ben Jones| T: B Pauling

16/1

£100,000 Irish point runner-up. Dropped out rather tamely on his Cheltenham bumper debut in November but the fact he went off at only 9/1 for that listed contest suggests he must have been showing up well at home. A tongue strap is added now back from 3 months off.

Form: 2-0

Ka Mate Du Brivet¹⁰²

Age: 5| Weight: 11-2| J: S Bowen| T: W Greatrex

10/1

£62,000 purchase after getting off the mark in Irish points at the third attempt (Nov 2025). Sean Bowen rides and one to note in the betting.

Form: 27-1

Kappa Des Mottes

Age: 5| Weight: 11-2| J: Ned Fox⁽³⁾| T: T Symonds

25/1

£65,000 Kapgarde gelding. Half-brother to French 2m hurdle winner Gamaline and dual bumper winner Martha Willow. Yard gets the odd bumper winner. The market should help guide to expectations.

Form:

Midnight Jukebox³⁴⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 11-2| J: J J Burke| T: F O'Brien

3/1

Saw off now useful hurdler Soldier Reeves when winning an Irish point last March. Changed hands for £135,000 after. Very interesting runner.

Form: 1-

Smokehouse³⁴⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 11-2| J: G Sheehan| T: Jamie Snowden

13/8

£100,000 purchase after an Irish point win last March. Joined a good stable with a healthy bumper strike-rate. Has to enter calculations.

Form: 1-

Little Ruby

Age: 5| Weight: 10-9| J: Jamie Hamilton| T: M Walford

150/1

Mondialiste mare. Dam, 1¾m-2m winner, half-sister to bumper winners/fairly useful hurdlers Black Ivory (stayed 25f) and Magic Wave (stayed 23f). Starts out in what could be a warm bumper so a watching brief is the percentage call.

Form:

Mac Gayveur

Age: 4| Weight: 10-4| J: R T Dunne| T: T H Weston

40/1

Half-brother to 5 winners, including bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler Aniknam and fair hurdler Grooveur. The stable is no stranger to success in these races so a market check is needed.

Form:

Pluto Star

Age: 4| Weight: 10-4| J: Benjamin Macey⁽⁵⁾| T: G Hanmer

80/1

Ulysses gelding. Dam fair hurdler (winner around 2m), also 11f-13f winner on Flat. Stable 2-39 in bumpers in the last 5 seasons so it is likely she is best watched on debut.

Form:

Sea Tempest

Age: 4| Weight: 10-4| J: Stan Sheppard| T: T Lacey

6/1

€58,000 Affinisea gelding. Brother to fairly useful chaser Romeo Magico, stays 25f, and half-brother to bumper winner/useful hurdler Ruaille Buaille. Tom Lacey won this with a newcomer last year so this one needs monitoring closely in the betting.

Form:

Non-Runners

Lou Des Bordes⁵³

Weight: 11-2| Age: 5

T: N Kent J: Non Runner

Forecasts

Smokehouse (13/8), Midnight Jukebox (3/1), Brecharnon (4/1), Sea Tempest (6/1), Ka Mate Du Brivet (10/1), Eclat De Marvel (16/1), Kappa Des Mottes (25/1), Lou Des Bordes (25/1), Mac Gayveur (40/1), Pluto Star (80/1), Little Ruby (150/1), Arizona Moon (150/1)

This is an interesting bumper. MIDNIGHT JUKEBOX beat a now useful hurdler when winning his point last spring and gets the nod to make a successful start to his Rules career. Fellow point winner Smokehouse, Dan Skelton's new recruit Brecharnon, a Chepstow winner last spring, and Eclat de Marvel, who went off at a single-figure price for his debut in a Cheltenham listed bumper, head the dangers in a race where the betting is likely to provide more clues.
