Fairly useful on the Flat (stays 12.5f), scoring at Catterick in October. Showed more than on hurdling debut when second in 10-runner maiden at Southwell (15.8f, soft) 15 days ago, left poorly placed.

Useful on Flat (stays 15f) for Andre Fabre (changed hands for 220,000 gns) and left his hurdling debut form behind when third in 17-runner maiden at Wincanton (15.2f, heavy) just under 3 weeks ago. Likely to progress further.

Overcame inexperience to make a winning bumper debut at Ffos Las in January. Encouraging enough start over hurdles when third of 6 at Lingfield in November but disappointed at Ffos Las since.

€26,000 3-y-o, Soldier of Fortune gelding. Half-brother to poor hurdler Celestial Park. Dam unraced sister to useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 3¼m) Warden Hill. Off mark in Irish points at second attempt (dead heat, Nov 2025).

Half-brother to 3 winners, including smart chaser Enjoy d'Allen, and made a successful debut in small-field bumper at Bangor (heavy) in December 2024. Outclassed in Champion Bumper at Cheltenham 3 months later but has both a pedigree and physique to suggest a good long-term future.

Half-brother to 3 winners, including French chaser Etat d'Espry and fairly useful hurdler/chaser In The Air (2m-2½m winner). Tongue tied when finishing third of 15 in juvenile hurdle at Compiegne on debut in November 2024. Subsequently left J. Delaunay for €85,000 and open to improvement.

Buck's Boum gelding who has shaped with some encouragement on both outings over hurdles but is probably more one for handicaps after this run.

Placed in a couple of bumpers in spring 2024 and shaped as if needing the run fitted with a hood on his Doncaster hurdling debut 22 months later. This will reveal more.

Forecasts

Giantsgrave (5/4), Talakan (7/4), Galashiels (4/1), Lancelot Allen (9/2), Let's Love (7/1), Fouroneohfever (9/1), Mulinas (11/1), Lully Du Houx (16/1), Seeking Charles (80/1), My Boy Aaron (125/1), Global Fortune (150/1), Back On Track (250/1)

Verdict

TALAKAN has shown plenty of promise in a pair of juvenile hurdles and has to be considered the one to beat in receipt of plenty of weight from her rivals. Galashiels has unlikely reached his limit as a hurdler based on his useful Flat form, with bumper-winner Lancelot Allen another interesting contender.
