From a good family and confirmed promise of debut when winning junior hurdle at Doncaster in November, looking set to claim leader when left in front 2 out. Comfortably followed up at Lingfield (16f, good to soft) and he's not taken lightly.

Boasts a fine French pedigree and made a successful debut in 11-runner juvenile hurdle at Lyon Parilly (16.9f, heavy) for Hugo Merienne in November. Sold for €520,000 subsequently and could potentially be a bright prospect for his leading yard.

Promise when third in juvenile maiden hurdle at Doncaster (16.6f, soft) on first outing, before suffering interference when down the field at Warwick 3 weeks ago. Remains with potential but has something to find in this contest.

Showed ability first time up when fourth of 6 in juvenile hurdle at Hereford (16.2f, good) in November (Aqua Bleu ahead in second making his debut). Plenty more required, though, with tongue strap now added.

In need of the experience on debut but shaped encouragingly when second of 4 in junior hurdle at Exeter (16.7f, soft, 10/11) in November, form boosted by the winner and third scoring next time. Open to improvement with first run behind him.

Forecasts

Aqua Bleu (7/4), Merci Mam (7/4), Mwabani (11/4), Maestro Du Mesnil (10/1), Dream's Ka (28/1)

Verdict

The well-bred MERCI MAM was an expensive purchase having made a winning debut in France and looks to be an exciting recruit to the powerful Skelton yard. He is taken to make it 2 from 2, though Aqua Bleu is respected in his hat-trick bid with further progress to come, while Mwabani could take a step forward from his first outing.
