Acquired by new connections for £85,000 after finishing runner-up sole outing in bumpers and shaped better than on his first 2 starts over fences when not beaten far in a small-field maiden at Haydock in December. However, again made mistakes/refused to settle at Ffos Las since.

5/1
Fairly useful ex-French hurdler who proved a different proposition to on chasing debut when landing a truly-run race at Ludlow (2m, soft) in tidy fashion in December. However, wasn't quite in the same form tackling better company at Doncaster since.

5/4
Irish point winner who was successful in two of his 3 starts in novice hurdles last winter. No impact pitched into a competitive race on return/chase debut at Kempton on Boxing Day but much more like it when a close second in 5-runner handicap at Warwick (16.2f) latest, despite going in snatches.

15/8
Fairly useful French hurdles winner. Back to something like his best returned to more testing conditions, edging ahead on line to land a 5-runner 2m chase at Hereford (soft) just over a fortnight ago. Not yet fully exposed for top yard and merits obvious respect in follow-up bid.

Forecasts

Epic West (5/4), Mon Champion (15/8), Milan Tino (5/1), Largy Belter (13/2)

Verdict

MON CHAMPION produced easily his best effort for current connections when edging ahead late on at Hereford recently and is a straightforward choice to follow up given he's still lightly raced for an in-form yard. Epic West could do with travelling a bit more fluently than on his previous outing at Warwick but is still considered the main threat.
