Won a Southwell hunter in 2024 and stuck to his task really well when second having made a bad mistake at Taunton a year ago. Signed last season off in disappointing fashion and sent off a big price, he probably needed the run on return a fortnight ago.

Age: 11|  Weight: 12-2| J: Mr Samuel Scott(7)| T: Myles Osborne| OR:  126| D
Ended losing run in a 2½m Ludlow hunter chase in April. Didn't deliver as much as promised when fourth in an amateur riders' handicap at Cheltenham in November and again failed to fully convince with his attitude at Ludlow 3 weeks ago. Has the ability to win this if applying himself.

Bounced back after another wind operation when making a successful reappearance at Warwick (25.5f, heavy) in November 2023. Below form for Dr Richard Newland later that season and has failed to win in the pointing field since.

Back-to-back winner in veterans' handicaps towards the end of 2023 and made the frame in 5 of his 6 starts last term, including when creditable third of 8 in handicap chase at Newbury (26f, good to soft) last March. Holds strong claims on hunter debut.

Fair form over hurdles and fences despite failing to win a race. Landed back-to-back points since then but was well held in that sphere 3 weeks ago.

Age: 11|  Weight: 11-12| J: Mr S Lee(7)| T: Francesca Poste| OR:  118| CD
Winner of 2023 Midlands Grand National but largely disappointed thereafter, including when sixth in Eider Chase last February. Runner-up both starts in points for new connections and this will help reveal how much ability he retains.

Forecasts

Take All (6/4), Good Boy Bobby (13/8), Major Dundee (6/1), Ideal Du Tabert (10/1), Haven't Time (16/1), Enqarde (16/1)

Verdict

GOOD BOY BOBBY has been off the track the best part of a year but that's not a major worry given the yard he represents and capable of near-useful form when last seen, he looks the answer on hunter debut. Take All shaped quite well at Cheltenham and though he failed to convince with his attitude under pressure when third at Ludlow, he remains a threat. Major Dundee adds a bit of intrigue to the contest.
