Proved a totally different proposition to on Rules debut when running out longest-priced winner in history of British racing in an Exeter maiden (16.7f) last month. Still close up but firmly under pressure when falling 3 out under a penalty over C&D since.

Well held in bumper/novice hurdle 14 months apart.

Reached the frame in a pair of 2m Chepstow bumpers at the beginning of 2025 and was given a considerate introduction to hurdling when finishing a well-held third in 11-runner C&D 22 days ago. Should improve but possibly more one for handicaps later on.

Winning pointer at fifth attempt who made an encouraging start under Rules when fourth of 10 in a warm-looking bumper at Hereford (16.2f, soft)18 days ago. Switches to hurdling now and shouldn't be taken lightly.

Didn't kick on from his bumper debut last season and went backwards from an encouraging hurdling debut when a well-held fifth of 12 in a Huntingdon maiden in December.

Produced a promising first effort when second of 11 in a Hexham bumper in November and was still finding in second when falling 2 out on Uttoxeter hurdling debut since. Open to improvement.

Green when failing to meet market expectations on his sole outing in bumpers and was still in need of the experience sent hurdling after 11 months off when fourth of 5 in a novice at this course (15.8f, soft) in November. Proved too free stepped up in trip since.

Quick to make into a fairly useful hurdler in France for David Cottin, scoring over 2m at Compiegne in May. Sound-enough start for this yard despite not matching that form when a battling second at Catterick and would have landed the odds but for departing at Fontwell since. Leading claims.

Forecasts

Turenne (8/11), Blowers (5/1), Wispit Twob (6/1), The Hawkstonian (13/2), Titanium Ring (13/2), Roi Du Roume (17/2), Emerald Breeze (12/1), Trade War (28/1), Paradise Park (100/1), Commander Teddy (300/1)

Verdict

TURENNE would have landed the odds but for departing at Fontwell last month and pushed a promising one close on his first start for his current yard at Catterick the time before, so he's very much the one to beat. Titanium Ring was still finding in second when exiting 2 out on his first outing over hurdles at Uttoxeter and is open to improvement, while Roi du Roume shouldn't be taken lightly either having shown clear promise in a warm-looking Hereford bumper recently.
