Won twice at a lower level last season but has a patchy record over Flat and Jumps of late. Takes a slight ease in class back over timber but others more persuasive.

A fair winning hurdler at Carlisle but ended last season out of form. Slow start to this campaign but below last winning mark and much more like it when third in a 2m contest here a month ago. One to consider back up in trip with blinkers back on.

Well held in a bumper for Mark Walford but off the mark at the third attempt over hurdles at Sedgefield in November (16.8f). Shade too keen to last out over 19.9f back there a fortnight later but right back on his game returned to 2m when second at Wetherby a month ago. Needs to learn to settle.

Pulled up first 3 starts in handicaps but different proposition switched to front-running tactics, completing hat-trick at Market Rasen in November. Heavy defeat from revised mark at Sedgefield on Boxing Day so bounce back called for.

Overcame inexperience to make a winning debut in a Kelso bumper in April and, following a 7-month break, he shaped well when third of 8 in novice at Market Rasen on hurdles bow. Jumping has lacked fluency both starts since but he retains potential in handicaps over this sort of trip.

Best effort in handicap hurdles in the spring when third of 6 over 3m at Kelso in May. Fitted with a tongue strap but reportedly made a noise on return in September and has had another breathing operation.

Multiple winning pointer but just a modest maiden hurdler. Did step up on return to action when second of 10 at Wetherby on Boxing Day and he can remain competitive.

Forecasts

Byron Hill (7/2), Devon Skies (18/5), Abbey Scope (4/1), Wise Move (4/1), Avalon Beach (9/2), Maggies Boy (12/1), Achnamara (14/1), Express Run (18/1)

Verdict

ABBEY SCOPE could do with brushing up his jumping but he's well treated from this opening mark given he managed to win a bumper so he could be the answer with this trip sure to suit. Byron Hill looks a solid rival, while Devon Skies had a productive autumn and is likely to bounce back from a heavy defeat.
