Showed fairly useful form when winning a 4-y-o chase (in cheekpieces) in France. Has yet to come close to matching hat form on these shores but shaped with a bit more encouragement after 9 months off when fifth of 9 in Wincanton handicap 35 days ago. Merits consideration down in grade.

Winner on Flat in France and improved for a change of tactics when narrowly prevailing in 6-runner event here (15.5f) in November. Shaped as if still in good form at Uttoxeter subsequently but stamina to prove now stepping up in trip.

Showed improved form to get off the mark at Uttoxeter (22.2f, heavy) in December. That was a weak race however and she offered little back there a year on.

On the back of a breathing op, showed improved form when making all for a first success in a Chepstow handicap in January. However, ran poorly after 9 months off when pulled up at Ffos Las (21.9f, soft) in November and fared no better over C&D since. Blinkers now tried.

Chepstow 2m novice hurdle winner in January 2024 but largely below form last term and offered little starting out for this yard (formerly with Archie Watson) at Carlisle last month. Back up in trip.

Maiden who followed a good run with a below-par one when fourth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (20.6f, good to soft) 44 days ago. Possibilities if bouncing back to form.

Promise when placed twice last season and came good back from a break at Kelso (21f, good to soft) in November. Seemed to find the test too much at Ayr (24.3f, heavy) next time, so the return to this trip should be in her favour.

Landed back-to-back handicaps in March and stepped up on recent run when third of 9 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (19.9f, heavy, 18/1) 42 days ago. Needs more to defy this mark, however.

Showed little in maiden/novice hurdles for L. J. Morgan (sold £15,000) but was successful in her sole outing in Irish points earlier in her career and should be capable of better now entering handicaps off a low mark.

Temperamental sort who shaped better than the distance beaten suggests when a well-beaten eighth of 13 in handicap hurdle (33/1) at Uttoxeter (23.3f, soft) 20 days ago, weakening having been upsides briefly 4 out. Not sure to build on that.

Forecasts

Natus Vincere (4/1), Queen Of Steel (9/2), After Many Days (9/2), Take A Hike (9/2), Kantagua Du Large (11/2), Shesupincourt (10/1), Walkinthecotswolds (18/1), Sophie Power (20/1), Subtle Fortune (22/1), Pearl Smoke (40/1), Chosen Hero (40/1)

Verdict

TAKE A HIKE seemed to find the test too much at Ayr (24.3f) on her most recent outing and is taken to resume winning ways back over a more suitable trip. After Many Days is still a maiden but has definite claims from her mark if putting a lesser effort at Market Rasen quickly behind her, with Kantagua du Large another to consider dropping in grade.
