Shaped with promise when second of 14 in bumper (25/1) at Ballinrobe (16.6f, good) on debut 7 months ago. Entitled to do better.

Poet's Word gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to smart hurdler/useful chaser (2m-2½m winner) Ballyadam. Needs a close look in the betting.

Placed in points and showed a bit starting out under Rules when seventh of 22 in maiden at Leopardstown (16f, good, 125/1) on NH debut 19 days ago. Switches to a bumper.

Showed plenty when second of 6 in bumper at Punchestown (16.7f, heavy) on NH debut, well positioned. Off 10 months but makes plenty of appeal having joined Willie Mullins in the interim.

Forecasts

The Wager (11/10), Pinndar (7/4), Detroit Maverick (4/1), Moments Away (14/1), Martymill (18/1), Silver Salute (50/1), Dorie Miller (100/1), Clonsast (100/1), Orinoco Walk (200/1), Layenda (250/1)

Verdict

THE WAGER showed plenty of ability when narrowly denied at Punchestown on his debut (for P. M. J. Doyle) in February and, having joined Willie Mullins subsequently, he's very much fancied to go one better. Successful pointer Detroit Maverick and Pinndar are a couple of Rules newcomers to take seriously, especially if the market speaks in their favour.
