Jeu St Eloi gelding who built on bumper second when making a winning debut over hurdles in 14-runner novice at Southwell (15.8f, good to soft, 9/2) 6 weeks ago. Scored comfortably that day and well in the mix here.

Race To Base37
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-10| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR:  122| CD
Point winner who built on his hurdling debut promise when easily landing C&D novice in November. Improved his form despite finishing last of 3 against a couple of useful ones at Aintree a month ago and he sets the standard.

Placed in both points. Modest fifth in a bumper in June 2024 and well held both starts over hurdles this season after 18 months off.

Never on terms at Southwell and Haydock.

Glancing Jack82
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-3| J: Benjamin Poste| T: T Symonds| CD
Big price but created a good impression as he made a winning start in Hereford bumper over a year ago, quickening clear. Penalised and off 10 months, matched that form when fifth at Worcester in October and not taken lightly on hurdles debut.

Guardami Ancora32
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-3| J: Conor Ring| T: Evan Williams| OR:  115
Progressive in novice hurdles, runner-up at Taunton last month, and shouldn't be long before he goes one better.

Loaded And Locked33
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-3| J: H Cobden| T: Miss E C Lavelle| OR:  118| BF| D
£80,000 Irish point winner who also bagged a bumper at Worcester in October. Posted an encouraging fourth of 13 in novice at Warwick on hurdles bow but failed to build on that when beaten at odds-on here last month. Worth another chance.
|
Timeform
Showed a bit more than on debut when third in a 7-runner bumper at Taunton (16.5f, good to firm) on final start for Tom Weston in April. However, no encouragement both starts over hurdles this term.
|
Timeform
Runner-up on first start in points but pulled up next time (Nov 23). Ninth of 12 in novice hurdle (150/1) at this C&D (soft) on NH debut 23 days ago.
|
Timeform
Order of St George gelding who made an encouraging start when second of 8 in bumper (10/3) at Worcester but raced too freely here next time. Makes hurdles debut.
|
Timeform
Bred to need time and distance and shaped in kind when eighth of 14 in novice hurdle at Wetherby (19.7f, soft) on NH debut 15 days ago.
|
Timeform
Has shown ability in maiden hurdles at Taunton and Huntingdon 8 months apart. Sort to be seen in a better light in handicaps in due course.

Age: 5|  Weight: 10-10| J: Ned Fox(5)| T: T Symonds
Raced 5 times in bumpers on the other side of the Channel for Adrien Fouassier, winning her last 2 in May. Not the easiest to assess and the market should prove instructive as this filly goes hurdling for new connections.

Donegal31
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-4| J: S Bowen| T: C E Longsdon
Fairly useful winner on the Flat in the France and went close to making a winning hurdles debut for new yard at Doncaster last month, clear of rest. Open to improvement and he should win soon.

Forecasts

Loaded And Locked (10/3), Looping D'arc (4/1), Guardami Ancora (4/1), Donegal (4/1), Race To Base (5/1), Lady Magic (12/1), Glancing Jack (14/1), Boston Savr (25/1), Western Cross (25/1), Ahanaglogh (50/1), Glancing Back (50/1), Ciao Bellisima (66/1), Triple Haych (150/1), Lootenay (250/1)

Verdict

A few to consider with C&D winner RACE TO BASE shading the vote having been beaten only by a couple of good prospects at Aintree. Fellow penalised-winner Looping d'Arc had a bit in hand when scoring on hurdles bow at Southwell so is next best ahead of French-recruit Donegal, who went close to making a winning start in this sphere at Doncaster.
