BetGoodwin Last Hurrah Sussex National Handicap Chase (GBB Race)

Took well to fences last term, successful at Cheltenham last November and also a good fifth in National Hunt Chase at the Festival in March. Yet to fire this season but this represents a notable drop in class and a change of headgear may help his cause. Engaged 1.30 Wincanton Saturday.

Signs of decline since his last win at Cartmel early last season and hasn't really threatened since returning to action in October.

Dropped below last winning mark and arrives on back of creditable fifth of 14 in handicap chase (8/1) at Cheltenham (29.2f, good) 23 days ago, faring best of those held up. Cheekpieces back on. Respected.

Dual winner here (including over this trip) last season who made a winning return at Sandown (20.1f) in November. Far from disgraced in stronger contest at same course since and must enter calculations.

Veteran who ended a long losing run when scoring at Fakenham in October and improved on that form when taking 6-runner handicap (29.1f, soft) at same course a fortnight ago. This is more competitive but he can't be ruled out.

Clearly had his issues over hurdles last season but looked better than ever, following another breathing operation, when making a winning return/chase bow at this course in October. Backed that up with good third of 11 in Fontwell handicap chase (good to soft) 49 days ago and is one for shortlist.

Winner of back-to-back handicap chases at this course (25.7f) in spring, though typically raced lazily. Likely needed outing on return at Wincanton last month and could be a player with blinkers/tongue strap back on here.

Multiple point winner but is still a maiden under Rules. However, ran creditably in similar events the last twice and remains feasibly treated.
