Lightly-raced winning pointer/hurdler who looked rather fortunate to win 2 of his 5 starts over fences last season. Resumed progress to make a winning return at Carlisle (3¼m, good to soft), but found things tougher at Cheltenham since and will probably have to settle for a minor role here, too.

Two-time hurdle winner made it third time lucky over fences when landing a 4-runner handicap chase in first-time cheekpieces at Carlisle during the spring. However, he was put in his place at Perth on final run of last term and then failed to complete (pulled up) on return at Exeter last month.

Already a 3-time winner this season, the latest at Sedgefield in October. Performed with credit when fourth of 11 at Fontwell (27.7f, good to soft) last time, but his jumping is often sketchy and there won't be much margin for error off this mark in what is a competitive race.

Three-time point winner who made a successful start in handicap chases when scoring at Sedgefield (26.3f, good) in October. Disappointing next time, but quickly back on track with a good second at Doncaster and should make his presence felt.

Strong-travelling mare who notched fourth success over hurdles at Uttoxeter in September. Has come up short both subsequent starts in that sphere, but sandwiched between those below-par efforts was a pretty smooth chase debut success at Newcastle (23.4f, good). Couldn't rule out.

Dual chase scorer last winter who performed well during the spring, runner-up in handicaps at Carlisle and Aintree at around 25f. Yet to hit top for this season, though, and others make more appeal on this occasion.

Made winning start over fences after 7 months off in 5-runner handicap chase at Hereford (25.2f, good). Wasn't able to repeat the dose off 2 lb higher over the same C&D next time and it's likely that this assignment will prove beyond him, too.

Back-to-back winner of Wetherby handicap hurdles last winter and lots to like about chase debut success at that course (24.2f, soft) last month. Gave it a good shot when third in a more competitive Newcastle handicp (3¾m, good to soft) 2 weeks later and he's unexposed in this sphere.

Maiden hurdle winner for Dan Skelton and similar form since joining this yard. Off the mark over fences upped to 24.3f at Southwell (good to soft) last time, but now finds herself in a tougher race off an 8 lb higher mark.

Forecasts

The Big Breac (11/8), Red Delta (5/1), Queens Wish (11/2), Ali Star Bert (11/2), Copshill Lad (9/1), Mt Fugi Park (11/1), Ivane (12/1), Sound And Fury (12/1), Finn Lough (14/1), You Some Girl (25/1)

Verdict

THE BIG BREAC jumped really well when making a winning chase debut and again barely touched a twig when third upped to a marathon trip at Newcastle. The best is surely yet to come from this low-mileage 8-y-o and he rates a confident selection. It was only a three-runner affair that You Some Girl won on her first start in this sphere, but it was a likeable performance all the same and she heads the list of dangers, with Red Delta and the hat-trick seeking All Star Bert also shortlisted.
